Saints Row 2

Okay so first. I loved and still love GTA IV. It's technically THE best sandbox gangsta sim out there. Surely people must have noticed the trend the GTA games were taking since Vice City. With each iteration they became more realistic. That said however, I didn't find IV's story as entertaining as San Andreas, nor the characters as charming. From everything I have heard, SR2 is supposed to be a buggy mess on PC with poor performance to boot. If I one day play it then I can draw my own comparisons but for now San Andreas is still king of the hill, with GTA IV in second.

GTA:Vice City is still my favourite, I couldn't get enough of the radio stations.

Strange this thread appearing now. I just started playing GTAIV again last night.

I've allready finished Saint's Row 2, and the one thing it really has going for it, is the awesome activities/distractions. Somewell thought out and funny stuff to do.

Oh and the CO OP is also a killer, tried it for an entire day and did not encounter a single bug. Awesome playing it with a mate!

Back to GTA. Deceptor, I agree, for Some reason Vice City is still my favourite GTA. The "atmosphere" the music, everything just works perfectly, and Vice city is also the one I will allways think back to, apart from GTA 1.

I enjoyed GTA IV, but I agree with RustPuppet's sentiments to a degree.

It just didn't really hold me for some reason. It looked amazing, had cool storyline, quirky characters, varied missions etc, but something about it just didn't take hold.

Exactly right dude. There's a fine line between making a game that's realistic and a reality simulator that has game elements to it.

I'm a firm believer in not reading game reviews, even though I write them myself. It's amazing how people get caught up in the hype and blindly follow the pack mentality, and I reckon GTA4 is a good example.

Besides, if you know the various review sites well enough you know which ones are biased and/or bought off. (The Official PS Magazine is a prime example with all the perfect 100's they dish out.)

(BTW Tinman, my nick is one word ;))

Rust Puppet! Rust Puppet!! Rust Puppet!!! :)

I enjoyed GTA 4 but not as much as I did with San Andreas. The majority of the missions in GTA 4 felt short and unchallenging, almost like a large part of the game was composed of filler missions. After the bank robbery mission, I kept hoping that there would be other missions that had a similar length, difficulty and set piece feel to it, but there were hardly any that matched it.

Is there a patch out for Saints Row 2 that addresses the performance issues. I will plan on getting it once those issues are sorted out.

It helped me alot. I saw a visible performance increase right from the first loading screen. Loads faster, runs smoother. MAx FPS stayed roughly the same but the average FPS and Min FPS were much higher.

Im getting this game next month but on the 360 as my pc will probably suffer running it

I haven't played Saints Row yet but from what I've read you can customize much more than you can in GTA IV

you can custimize your crib with tv, bed, lounge PC etc etc.

you character you can customize lots of stuff even facial expressions and fighting styles and all.

I found Saints Row 2 to be alot more fun than GTA 4, and IMO better graphics (GTA IV graphics look a bit smudged/overexposed, and lots of jagged edges even at 720P HDTV).

But I definitely enjoyed GTA 4's story, especially with alternative endings.
