MyGaming suggestion box

I'm not entirely sure if rpm's going to smaak that. (Or the other x thousand of subscribers who will be losing post counts & have to re-register on here.)

Yes. And I would LOVE to have the 10 character limit on messages removed. I just wanted to reply a yes. And seeing as i have to type all these words to fill in a gap I wasn't really interested to fill in I guess I now have enough words and by the end of all this I would have said absolutely nothing. So I'm thinking of russian and chips for dinner... perhaps... yes... I'll BOLD my initial answer and make this whole reply smaller. I think that's a brillaint plan. Me too. Damn I'm good

Thats why they can run a simple MySQL query to determine who posted in the gaming section and re-create the users with the same password which won't duplicate anyone that already registered here.... I've worked with the database before. As long as the salt for the MD5 is kept default in both forums or both forums use the same salt the MD5 hash would be okay for the passwords
 
As for the character limit, there is a system bug that won tallow us to change it. It should be fairly easy, but for some reason it jsut doesnt stick when we change it. Should be sorted out in the next system revision along with a few other bugs we need to have looked at.

As for the MB gaming section being moved. I can tell you now that it would thoroughly annoy MB users, and there is nothing to say that the users would stick here. The gaming section on MB serves a slightly different purpose to this one.

MG forums will grow in time. Most of the big forums around have been up for over a year. This one is only a couple of weeks old. Eventually it will stand up without MB.

That said, I would obviously love to move MB's gaming section here if I could.

Agreed. I think the fresh start is exactly that - fresh. So far it's been quite pleasant to read different opinions on games since everyone gets along on the thread killer, so there's no animosity when views differ when it comes to games.
 
I find it surprising there are some hints being made that some posters from MyBB are not welcome here.
I am wondering if this has anything to do with the NAG vs MyBB thread not too long ago? Did it cause some 'bad blood' mayhaps?

If it did, that would be a pity.

Nah I think we're purely "protective" if you may, over (and I use the word "our" purely because we've made it home) forum and enjoyed the awesome vibe everyone shares here - as I'm sure you'll agree.

Tinman's policy of fanboys leaving their attitudes at the door has proven successful and so far every debate has been interesting...and stuck to being debates rather than arguments. Unfortunately myBB has a reputation for some forumites being trolls in the true sense of the word.

I don't think anyone would object if this site reached the size of myBB - and even if the same trolls register on here, at least it's a fresh start to new and old topics where they aren't judged on their old mentalities.

Does this make sense though?
 
There's definitely an air of mild hostility on the NAG forums, but the same could be said of some people here I suppose. Nothing feud worthy but certainly something. It only ever comes up when you mention one or the other on either site.

Yep, it makes sense, it is just the way it sounded in your head :D

However, judgement will happen whether you like it or not. It's human nature, especially if posters are labeled with having one, i.e. attitude or a reputation for being an A-hole, etc.

Anyway, you sure you want the link? I don't really want to post it in here, possibly sparking another discussion or whatnot. Will pm you if you really want it. Must just go look for it. It's a very long read though and although some valid points were made it drags on-and-on and gets off-topic more often than not, i.e. normal procedure as you pointed out. There is even a thread on the other forum too about the whole debacle.
