What I've seen though is that tourists laugh over such things. It's stories that they tell their friends. I had Americans over for a visit two years ago and we had lots of blackouts. They thought it was hilarious and they really enjoyed their time here.

They actually said it wasn't as backwards as they thought it would be. They'll be coming over again when they can afford it.

I'm not argueing over "if this is gonna happer" i'm argueing over "WHEN this is gonna happen" Any person with logical reasoning can see it WILL be a failure, there is no other possible outcome unless FIFA desides to move the thing back to germany at the last second.

I really do believe that it will go well and that afterwards overseas press will say that it wasn't bad at all. I am in general an optimist though.

I may be a pessimist but pessimist is just what an optimist calls a realist.
 
Also, about bad publicity, you all say there aren't gonna many crimes against the tourists, well the international news goes at any story like flies on a ball of shit, especialy if the ball of shit is as big as fifa. So all it takes is ONE rape, ONE murder and the reputation of south africa is tarnished for decades.

And it will happen. I mean the tourist will not know the full extent of the crime here. Can you imagine what will happen if a cop rapes a tourist. Like what happened to that poor woman.

I still say that all this is pure speculation. We will not know until we know.

I am willing to take a bet though, but only with one person. I am willing to bet that after the Soccer World Cup, a major overseas newspaper will say that overall it was a success. A newspaper like the Times or something.

The bet is a Steam game. Now look I am currently working for myself and struggling but trying to get a new permanent job. So a cheap Steam game of $4.99 is my bet. Do I have a taker?

From a foreighners point of view, yes.

Just look at Iraq, everyone thinks the whole country is a warzone and there is a bomb under rock. Thats not the case, most of the country is living quite peacefully really.
