/start rant

Again today I read of a game thats being fucked up for PC, bioshock 2, only 15 installs aloud, its the latest in a long list of games purposely being botched up on PC, now I don't care what the bloody reason is, its not my fault, and I can't do anything to stop it (believe it or not flaming pirates does fuck all) MW2, BF Bad Company 2 are games that come to mind, taking out things that make PC gaming what it is, I and meny other people can see the point of this ploy, to make people move to console, But I won't move to console, why? because I don't fucking like playing FPS on console, among other games, I don't like using the bloody gamepad to play every bloody genre you can thing of porting.
This is FBS and people shouldn't stand for it, they introduce it slowly so we don't even know it happening, before you know it, they only way to play that game you really want to play is by plugging in a fucking xbox or PS3 gamepad!

say thank you for those with attitudes that they deserve to pirate and not pay up or to just pass time when something they deem worthwhile to buy.

No necuno this isn't a blame game, there are multiple problems, piracy, casual gamers, greedy devs/publishers, unfortunately to me there seems no solution

it is cocksuckers like those that makes developers thinks twice before just releasing a drm-free game. however i can bet you now that they will lapse a bit in strictness after the release. people getting all shitty about developers having to protect their IP are seriously retarded; you OP fail it is not devs that do that onto us it is you the populace who breeds that reaction. in the end it will be getter more and more restrictive hence the attitudes of what i've mentioned in my initial reply and console gaming will still be as put in disc and play.

The core of the problem is that there are more casual gamers than People like us(I will not use the word hard core as I do not like that term). So more=more money. The game industry is going the way the music industry went.

this is very a good comparison, so in the end will PC gamers have to play underground games?

As much as we think our opinions matter when it comes to what Devs / Publisher / Other Gamers may or may not do, it primarily comes down to - the bottom-line (a double edged sword).

The lowest common denominator rules, and the minority who disagrees or is made to feel discomfort can go to hell as far as capitalism is concerned.

This is a tricky subject, so much to take into consideration. For all the gains of gaming becoming mainstream, we also find many cons to such a situation.

HoN ftw!!!
S2 is the only devs doing it right atm.

15 installs in Bioshock 2 is such a load of...

Meh I can live with it.
Windows Live on the other hand I can't live with. Don't wanna commit fraud just to be able to play a game online.

Did I mention S2 rules?

Starcraft 2? its going to be another fuck up for PC as well as diablo

Piracy is never going to go away, no matter what the devs do, there game is goping to be pirated, more and more companies are starting to realise that and find that it just works out better to ignore evertything but the basic piracy protections, (Serial keys and securom[or other equivalents])

If bioshock has that kind of protection again, it is the fault of the company for being too stupid to realise the above. Thats not going to stop anyone. If someone is gonna copy it, they will. Is somone is going to buy it, now there less likely to.

The console ports: The casuals are at full blame for this.

I think starcraft 2 is going to be awesome. I don't care about the lan thing as I do not lan. And I have seen trailers and looks exactly like the first one.

you think its going to stop at LAN play?

If you're talking about single player, no it's not going make it go away completely. Ubisoft's top selling games are all singleplayer dedicated. So no, singleplayer won't go away.

And with SC2 there are rumors again that the LAN will be put back, and if not, there will probably be some moding team that will.

I have the greatest faith in starcraft 2 as the game is only for the pc.

The bioshock guys don't learn. There is a reason EA stopped using securom after the disasters with spore and mass effect 1.

Live for windows is a total failure, only save game system out there on pc that totally corrupts your saves if you format. Hence why I won't buy bioshock.

So what happens after you reach your 15 install limit? If I remember correctly my copy of Bioshock only had a three install limit. I remember the furor that caused back then and it got increased to 5 or something. I really think you are over reacting on this issue. 15 installs should be plenty sufficient and a quick email to Securom can circumvent that problem, should it even become a problem. There are much bigger issues plaguing PC gaming than a silly 15 install limit. Come on guys, our dissatisfaction won't get taken seriously if we throw a tantrum every time we think we are being done in.
