prejudice towards games?

i'm quite sure non of us is really going to download and play rapeplay for that matter due to how we feel about sexual violence towards woman. however it could be argued that it's not so different vs playing a game where you have to kill, maim and torture people thinking of a few violent titles.

there is also the case where you are not "allowed" to play a certain game as per your believes or what you have been thought. for example diablo are a no no as it feature the brimstone brigade and will get you browny points with the wrong guy.

lastly a third option where as the potential gamer thinks that everything is shitty and not a-ok because if of their "collective standards". it's a sad title so i would prejudge it and leave it alone.

but this is all taste, right ? ;)

You got nothing on me copper!

The thing that people don't realise is, it thats perfectly fine to have fantacies about ANYTHING, from raping people to setting the world on fire for fun. Aslong you have the inhibition to not actualy act on them.

Prisons are for people who act, not think.

"Hear no evil. See no evil. Speak no evil." doesn't work. Hear, see and speak it, so you know not to do it.

Let me guess you are raging because everyone is slamming Dante`s Inferno the game you looked forward too? And now that it is not doing so well you rage against the people for not liking it and being prejudice against it?

Collective Standards? Hardly gaming review sites like metacritic and forums like my gaming is a good way to find out what games are good and what is not. And it avoid buying those "lemon" games when you could have purchased a AAA title.

I speak for myself but I dont have gaming time and money to spend on sub par games anymore. There has already been 4 big releases this year with another 2 coming up, and I would rather spend my cash on those.

Sure I also looked forward to a couple of games but in the end they disappointed so I canceled my pre-order and moved on to another game. That way I dont have 15 games I still need to finish but maybe 4 or 3 AAA titles at most which I can focus on and finish. Making the most of my gaming time.

Everything I have heard and seen points to the same thing: it's crap. It's been released to cash in on God of War withdrawal before the 3rd game gets released.

last time i've checked dante isn't rape play ;) (if you followed my replies. i as well has said that dante would be shitty if you are not interested in it's presented themes or mechanics. hardly "raging")

just a thought i had and wanted more opinion on the whole "prejudice towards games" and partly to do with this reply got me thinking again on the whole issue.

it seems however bit hard to talk to people when they think they are the christ in what is good and what is not.

As far as violence and satanic symbols are conserned (Diablo and Doom with pentagrams drawn all over the place) whats more Chirstian than killing the devil?

Also if you feel ripped off about the game, I DID warn you all about EA.

to be honest i actually went as far as removing all related such content from quake 1 and called it the "clean version" lol. this was now way back in the day when it was released.

i suppose its better to shoot in game that irl ;)

ot;
ea did well in breaking westwood. there is also the coming dead space 2 which i guess will follow suit now that they said it's going to be more action VS horror...

And I quote: "lastly a third option where as the potential gamer thinks that everything is shitty and not a-ok because if of their "collective standards""

pointless to answer when i know it's most likely going to end in yet another retort that must KO the other person one time. this is why i said... Geniet dit hoor, because it be the last.

I don't under stand religious people, they won't play a game that involves killing demons, but its fine to play a game that involves killing people.

It is kinda odd, isn't it? :P

I've never really understood why satanic imagery is so offensive, anyway. I mean, it's not like pentagrams and whatnot are actually even described (or condemned, for that matter) in the christian bible. Most satanic iconography is quite modern - it's only been around for the last hundred years or so. It's not exactly orthodox or anything. In fact, in medieval christianity, the pentagram was symbolic of the christ's wounds. Its association with "witchcraft" (whatever that means, really) and its subsequent dissociation with christianity happened sometime in the late 19th or early 20th century.

And on top of that, I guess I've just never understood this fear and vilification of... shapes. As an atheist, it all looks like crazy, dark age superstition to me.

I'm genuinely curious, though. Can anyone clarify this for me?

I am an atheist myself, I have always been Never believed in god. To me religion is just remnants of the dark age. But my grandmother could not stand me playing anything with devils in as she believed it would attract bad luck.
