I know of a little trick which i tried once and I dunno if its still workable today but apparently if you continue to tap on the button while the arm moves down or just as it hits the toy then the arms tightens and makes a hard clamp down on the toy

Yep it was a little trick and it helped to some extent but i dunno if it still works to this day
