The LCD acquisition project

I am hoping to buy myself a small [25 inches or less] LCD TV soon [within the next two months] on a budget of
up to R4000.

It will be replacing my PC monitor and television set.

What do I need to know about making such a purchase in order to avoid making an expensive mistake?
Which specifications are important and which are pure marketing hype?

thank you

You can get a 32" lcd screen at high felt corp for R4500. Thats What I bought for my parents and it is wonderful:D

Hello and thank you, Tsar

Unfortunately I do not have room for a 32 inch display.
Sitting in front of one of those while working on my computer might also be
quite overwhelming. :p

Lol true. Well take a look at high felt and see what you can get. THey are always having specials. And don't get a brand you never heard of.

Samsung T260HD 25.5'' If you can get it someplace but I think they are replacing it. Not sure about price

Samsung - P2770H - 27 inch LCD screen - 70 000:1 Price: R 4,000+

Samsung 23" Wide P2370 250cdm 50000:1 2ms LCD Monitor R2,221.00 http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/product_info.php?products_id=23668

The XL2370 is just an better version of the P2370 but it is good quality and full HD

A pity that those are not LCD TVs

O so you want a tv sorry though you wanted a pc screen then you going to run the tv trough a tv card so you watching tv on your pc.

The XL2370 comes with a hdmi port in in the back so it can be used as a tv with no problem.

But if you wane run a pc on a tv screen you will probably have to get a plasma as the only lcd tv's I have seen are 40'+ and expensive. I might be wrong though.

Here is a review for Xl2370 I ahve been doing lots of reading on it as I wanna buy one of them myself http://thecoolgadgets.com/samsung-led-television-syncmaster-xl2370-led-hdtv/

I have seen smaller LCDs.
I should have mentioned that the reason it needs to be a television set rather than
a PC monitor is so that I can connect my PS2 or Wii to it with their AV cables.

I see that the cost of this unit varies quite a bit.

Ok if you are looking for a tv specifically I would suggest going to HiFi corp or Hirches go and see witch tv you like and then see if you cant get it online for cheaper.
