SC2 beta

and that would be bad how exactly? oh right...

people who don't play anything other than blizzard games...

shame f*k siestog

I have downloaded the first pod cast from teamliquid.net. Will be coming out every Friday for beta period. The first pod cast was 30 + minutes long. Quite interesting...

From what i have gathered is that the macro will be more intense than SC1...

Is there anyone out there that has a beta key for StarCraft II ? Or that has opted in, and got in ? Please want to know if any S.A people got in...

And get your b.net account banned? No thanks

Well worse case scenario when final product is here, just create new account...If there were any chance that you would get into beta then you might have jeopardized that by following that youtube link...won't discuss this matter publicly...

they will most prob also ban your wow accounts and all since u fooling battle.net and not starcraft

Well if you have more than one game with Blizzard registered yes, it is a possibility. I only have SCBW registered...Let's just say you have to decide for yourself how bad you want to get into the action? cause man oh man i can't wait anymore...:)

Okay this morning my beta client was downloaded. I have like 18 replays to watch! Only started with one, at work now so will check it out later. From what i have seen so far is that the graphics is amazing! Physics very good! There is only so much a video do for you, but now actually seeing what the game will look like on my PC makes a big difference. I have a ATI 4870 performance is good on ultra but slows up in some cases when i zoom in. ATI has not released driver that addresses performance with SC2 yet so have to wait and see.

Here is the link to the performance benchmark on the current state of the beta. ATI does not fair well at all at the moment...

Okay so my 2 GTX280's will OWN this game...but I'm going to have to move to Quad Core. Nothing I can do about it.

Got my EU beta key a few days ago. Been playing a good few games every night.

I can give you some info on the current Ladder system on Battle.net 2 and my experienced so far.

When you start the beta you create a Real ID profile, basically this is to identify you along the lines of “Fayainz.mygaming”, it also asks for your real name which is only broadcast to other friends and from what I gather will be used to identify people cross-game (WoW, Diablo 3 etc). total speculation at this point.

It asks that you play 5 games so that battle.net can rate you and put you into one of the 5 leagues, Bronze, Copper, Silver, Gold, Platinum iirc.
This is optional, and after playing the 5 games you then have to play a further 10 games to get rated and ranked on the ladder.

There is 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and FFA. You can also create games, join friends games, play vs the A.I in a custom game. There is ingame VOIP that is currently working also.

Once a game is completed there’s the usual stats page that we’re accustomed to, however something interesting is a new tab that shows +- the first 7 minutes of you and your opponents build order.

All achievements are currently locked, so these can’t be viewed, there are sometimes issues when finishing a game your stats are not updated.
You are able to modify your profile and select an Avatar and your preferred race. (Protoss ftw)
I have not seen any clan / team management page, but im sure this will be added before release.

The replays are auto saved at this point, and can be viewed at any time, the neat thing about the replay manager is you can now rewind time if you missed something.

Joining a game could not be simpler honestly. Bearing in mind there are limited number of beta testers at this point, you simply select the type of game you want, 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4, and then select a race or choose random race and hit start.

Typically an opponent is found in under 1 minute, the longest I’ve waited for a 1v1 is approximately 1.5min.
I do experience some graphical lag but that may be due to my PC spec’s, I’m running the game at 1920x1200 with everything on Ultra.
There is also some latency when playing with people from Europe, nothing major and it’s more than good enough, what I have not tested is playing with someone from SA.

There’s a lot of forum whining currently about newbie’s getting rushed in under 6min and totally destroyed. It’s the current trend at the moment, but I’ve played against some really good zerg and terran players and the game feels really balanced so far, no doubt there will be further tweaks but the tides of battle are changed almost every encounter.

There is one thing that has put some people off on the forums, and I’ve noticed it last night. There seems to be no way of playing with other people from different regions. When your account is made you are locked to a particular region EU or US. Much like how the WoW accounts work currently. It’s rather sad as I have friends with the beta and some are on US accounts while others are on EU. All of which are WoW players and created their battle.net accounts based on the wow servers they played on (US / EU).

All in all so far the beta is really great, for those of you who think this is Starcraft 1 with a shiney polish, it’s most definitely not. The gameplay feels the same as SC1, and the art is also similar, but under the hood there are so many new things that I’m sure everyone is going to dig about SC II.
It really has taken me back to the old days of Lanning in college with good friends battling it out over Big Game Hunter.

Hope this doesn’t make you jump on ebay and buy a ridiculously overpriced beta key! :D
See you ingame :)

Too much of awesome:)

This game is so awesome :) Dont have a beta key yet but ive been playing vs. the cracked AI since Sunday...
If you are going to download and play against the AI make sure you always have the latest version... which is literally being updated every few hours.. Last night before I went to sleep we were on v5.1 and now we're on v5.5.. http://darkblizz.org/Forum2/ai-scri...-thread/?PHPSESSID=8bob84nl32tjmuve0hfblr51j4

The funny thing is that the official beta testers can only play against a very easy at the moment while the cracked crowds AI is actually quite impressive. I lost in a 1v1v1v1 after killing one of the pc players.

The cracked version isnt buggy at all..

#sc2c on Rizon IRC for all the latest updates as they happen..
#sc2 on SynIrc also for up to the second updates on cracking progress and new AI's
#starcraft2 on Shadowfire for our local SC2 community :)

http://bhfiles.com/files/StarCraft II/StarCrack AI 5.5.rar <-- 5.5 AI file
http://bhfiles.com/files/StarCraft II/SC2_AI_MAPPACK_V1.rar <-- Mappack
http://bhfiles.com/files/StarCraft II/lazylaunch2.zip <-- LazyLauncher2
http://www.mediafire.com/?2efykitimjh <-- Beta Launcher Tool ( easy to select maps, and choose which AI you want to use )

Hope that helps. :)
