The victims of PC gaming DRM: one soldier's story

And the irony of all ironies is that PC gamers bought this on themselves or more specifically fellow PC gamers who pirate instead of buying who are in the fast majority who now ends of spoiling it for the very honest few. So you fellows can throw around the blame as much as you like and create as many threads raging about it, but in the end the source of all of your gaming misery comes from the very same place that is complaining about it.

This irony is not lost to me

Okay so you hate PC gamers. Can we move on? These arguments are going around in circles.

well pc gamers are the root cause of evil.... we all know this :D

thinking back of those days where you had like 25 stiffies to pirate space quest IV or related and one would be faulty lol...

I didn't even know about piracy until the Quake 1/ Tomb Raider era, i.e. when cd's came into popularity. :/

Why would I hate a platform and a genre that I first started gaming on?

But you see they dont seem to get it. Rage all you want create all the threads you want sign as many petitions as you want boycott every single game they release but it wont help till you clean out your own house. I dont generally enjoy seeing other people suffer but in this case I might just take joy in it as the proverbial soap gets drop and they get shafted from behind.

And hopefully one day they will realize why things like draconian DRM gets used but I have more chance waking up next to Megan Fox tomorrow morning while she varnishes my morning wood.

Even before those days piracy was an issue hence the "Don't copy that Floppy"

shame so you won't know about the tools where you copied a stiffie with bad sectors without fail to another stiffie :D just can't remember the software's name... something like copywrit i think.

I think a lot of PC gamers on this forum buy their games, so condemning them as part of the problem is pointless and unfair. Be sure to differentiate between pirates and PC gamers, larch. You don't seem to do that.

No I'm just going on the fact that you keep harping about how terrible all us PC gamers are - when by the looks of it, most of the PC gamers on this forum are legitimate customers. I've not seen you say one positive thing towards the PC gamers here, hence my opinion that there's some hate or whatever.

I wasn't a big gamer back then, just dabbled here and there on my dad's Atari or Commodore or whatever the hell it was (Keyboard with a cassette slot on the right)

I missed the early days of piracy and only learned of it in high school. I was a console gamer then and cartridges were not exactly easy to copy (I wasn't even aware they could be copied).

No one said anyone here is a a pirate or that they dont buy their games. But what I am saying is they cant point fingers and blame companies for draconian DRM when and call them "money mongers" and throw around the blame card to whomever decides to make a point. Low piracy on the PC then sure by all means then you have a right to complain as much as you want and DRM can be a thing of the past.

But until people stop buying or downloading pirated games and turn a blind eye to piracy whenever they see it the cycle will just repeat itself indefinitely. PC gamers must stand up for themselves and clean out their own house, after all its the bad apples on their platform causing them the troubles.

I seem to do that pretty well thank you very much.

One exception hardly proves anything, larch. Most of the time, you talk about PC gamers as though they're all pirates. But sure, play your I DIDN'T DO IT THAT ONE TIME card. It obviously makes all the difference.

Larch why in hell do you always put down pc gamers, and that your word is law.

Unfortunately that is the general larch way of doing things.

It can be exceedingly hard to get valid points through to people (of which you often have larch), when you get so aggressive in the way you post. Sadly things wont change, and no, I am not looking for a fight. I will accept any response to this, it is your prerogative, however I am not going to flog this well dead horse.

Do I explicitly say/state anywhere that all PC gamers are pirates? Did I explicitly point any fingers at anyone on this forum with the exception of Ravengold? If so post it here and ill apologies to the PC gamers in this thread.

And play your OH I AM UPSET BECAUSE YOU JUST GOT STATED THE CAPTAIN OBVIOUS CARD.

Did I say that my word is law? And neither have I put down pc gamers or painted them as being inferior as many of the PC guys here have done to us console owners. I am only stating the obvious about why you guys are sitting with the DRM mess. Don't confuse someone with a vocal and strong opinion with someone who tries to force his opinion on others. You have your opinion I have mine it is a rather simple concept.

Like I have said to Tsar. Don't confuse someone with a vocal and strong opinion with someone who is aggressive in the way he posts if you want aggressive this is: http://www.roskilde-festival.dk/com...b42bac60e82&/topic,286.msg28149.html#msg28155 aggressive.

Just out curiosity how should I post?

Pfft, larch. You're obviously can't possibly ever do anything wrong. I mean, the fact that everybody on this forum loves you and agrees with everything you say and never disagrees with you proves it.

All I'm saying is you should watch the way you say things sometimes. If that's too much for your fragile ego to handle, then act like a baby. Makes no difference to me.

I screwed up countless times did you miss my last big screw up perhaps?

Is that my fault how? And FYI loads of people disagree and dislikes me here.
