Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Multiplayer

As far as I know dual core performance is good on this game. It wasn't like that during the beta but the patch resolved that. So if anything, future patches will only increase dual core performance so I really don't think you need to upgrade JUST for this game.

Nice, thanks! Thats what I wanted to hear :D . What kind of framerate can I expect? My card is a 9800gtx+. What settings would I be able to play on?

Well in game medium

But you need to go change the settings in the settings.ini file for better performance.

Like forcing it to use dx9, just look around its here somewhere in on of the BFbc2 threats.

Not me. I played it with bots but other than that, this one is my first why?

The reason I ask is that I've seen loads of posts raving about this game and EA/DICE in general and just fail to why it is receiving so much praise. Coming from a Battlefield background myself (BF1942, Vietnam, BF2, BF2142 and Bad Company 1) I really can't understand how people can be raving about a game that has so many bugs in it on release.

Most other game developers would not even release a public beta with this many bugs. EA/DICE have been doing this for years now and still can't get basic things like a friend's list, favourites list or server browser to work properly on release. Then you look at the fact that EA's master server has been on the blink since release date and I can't help but feel that this game's release was rushed (bear in mind that I've been waiting for this game for years now). I can list numerous EA games that once installed, required a large patch to be downloaded right away.

More specifically aimed at the game itself:

* The graphics are fine, not brilliant in my opinion but will do.
* Sound is ok but the in-game VOIP seems to have a mind of it's own.
* The maps seems to be well designed and pretty balanced.
* There are not enough maps and I see them making money off releasing map packs.
* Hit detection is disastrous and can't even being to compare with other online games. (this is a problem they've had since BF2)
* Too many badges and pins just seem to complicate matters.

However, my biggest gripe is with the actual players playing on the local servers. TEAMWORK!!!

Teamwork is a joint action by two or more people, in which each person contributes with different skills and express his or her individual interests and opinions to the unity and efficiency of the group in order to achieve common goals. ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teamwork

Probably 95% of the rounds I've played on local servers have resulted in my side loosing because of the lack of teamwork. Snipers just sitting in our deployment zone or our snipers sitting in the enemy deployment zone to try get easy kills. Pathetic :(

So yeah, so far I'm enjoying the game but finding it very difficult to fall in love with.

Tomorrow, 12th March, and Saturday, 13th March at 8:00GMT/9:00 CET:12:00 (midnight) PST, EA will take the servers down, this time we will come up with even more hardware with more capacity to handle all the BFBC2 traffic. Once the maintenance is complete you will experience an improvement to your online experience.

This will be extended maintenance to allow the new hardware to be installed and affect all three platforms (PC, PS3 and Xbox 360).

Maintenance on Friday 12th will last for 4 hours - 8:00 GMT to 12:00 midday GMT/9:00 CET to 13:00 CET/12:00 midnight PST to 4:00 PST.

Since launch a week ago, BFBC2 has already put EA servers through the following stress:

* The 4 different soldier types have gathered a score of more than 34 Billion.
* There's been more than 400M kills made.
* 1.3M roadkills
* Squads and Teams have assisted each other to 6.2 Billion points.

Now we are adding more capacity to let you smash those numbers multiple times over in the weeks to come.

For those who can't get online right now.

Just want to comment on the bold parts.

* Graphics - From my experience this is the best GFX I have ever seen on a FPS. Way better than COD or other BF titles. The fact that buildings and cover can be destroyed is pure EPICNESS.

*There is a fix for the in game VOIP. go into your gamesettings.ini file (MyDocuments -> bfbc2)
[They misspelled VoipRecieveVolume=0.500000
where it should have been received. I modified it, and then set my gamesettings.ini file to read only and then hopped on a server. Beware from the CP clan was in my squad at one stage and I asked him to say something. I could hear him loud and clear and there wasn't any continuous mic transfer either. Therefore, it appears that this might be a possible fix for the VOIP issue.]

Thanx to Killdoob for sharing it with us on MyBB

*Hit detection - I wish people would come off this and this is my reasons why:
1. Headshots = Death......... period
2. Body armour is suppose to keep you alive on chest hits. If you are going for the body be prepaired to empty a mag, I can't see a problem with that.
unless you are expecting to 1shot a person on the chest I can't see the reason for even mentioning hit detection. (I might be missing what you are saying though)

*Badges - I personally love it, makes the game way more interresting than it was in BF2. (I can see people having an issue with this but it's a personal pref issue)

As for the teamwork issue. I fully agree but I also need to add my 2c worth when it comes to snipers. Not everyone is sitting picking off kills. I personally get about 10 - 15 defensive kills per round when I snipe. It's about keeping your assault guys alive and defending the M-con's or flags. There is however some stupid snipers sitting picking off spawns and I fully agree that they should be TK'd :p (I did it once or twice for the kicks when I started playing BFBC2 but this game is more about teamwork than anything else. There is a reason your Win/Lose ration is on the stats site and in this game Win/Lose ratio is far more important than K/D ratio ;)

For those who can't get online right now.

So we can only get online again at 2 PM? Great.....

*BTW this is a new account for an old user (Staalbal) couldn't remember my password and my e-mail address changed :p This is my BFBC2 IGN

One a last note:

Would someone be willing to create a Mygaming clan for BFBC2? If so let me know, I'll join.

Cya all online at 2PM, going to catch up on some much needed sleep i missed since the launch of this game.

I can't say I've had problems with the hit detection either, including high latency (or what should be high latency*) games. As Beesbal points out, body armour soaks up a lot of damage. Headshots are instant kills, so try shooting better. :P

* Even playing internationally, the game feels really responsive.

I have to agree. I find the graphics to be eye candy and really epic. I mena my god building pieces flying apart and tanks being blown to shit while helis flying past EPIC!

Yep the clan is starting to play more and more BC2. Especially that we found out you can have 3 users on one account running of one router. So me and my brother can play of one account at home. Makes it a bit easier.

I think what he ment by hit detection is its not as accurate as previous FPS games. I mean there has been instances where i definately shot him in the head and by some sort of magic it never registered. But minor in the overall picture of the game.

No the gayest thing in this game by far is this BS spawn raping. and its the same guys everytime who does that. Do you really feel proud and empowered when you sit in our spawn and shoot us just after we spawned. FFS grow a pair.

But anyway just for anyone who is interested. My clan is on MW2 and BC2 and we have players who play each and every day. Please msg me if you are interested.

When I refer to hit detection I mean that the actual hit boxes on the sprites. I've "hit" infantry with a tank shell and no death? Now my aim might not be as good as some of the younger players but in my book that should be a kill.

ANyway, not trying to argue with anyone here, just stating my opinions and we all know what they say about opinions...

Remember you are on the console version, things will just work better. :D

I am getting the Xbox version today, I am pretty much over the PC version.

I totally agree with you dude, I found the hit detection a little peculiar to say the least.

Hate that yeah agree damit I was shooting a guy and he end up shooting me with an rpg and my tank went up in smoke but I know i shot the guy like millions of times even my gunner tuned wtf.

It depends for me on what server I am playing it is really bad on the sgs servers.

As for spawn raping... ladies and gentlemen, this is going to happen and happens in every FPS I've ever played. The thing I really like about BC2 is that it doesn't play that big a role. If you use your brain a little spawn raping should be no problem. I mean you can now spawn on any member of your squad and spawn points seem to be nicely spread out. You wanna talk about spawn raping? BF2, US spawn on the carrier and you have a Bomber, Jet, attack chopper and numerous APC all around you constantly shooting and bombing you - now that was an impossible situation.

Plus, if your team gets pushed back into your deployment zone then you obviously have done very little to try and win the round, bend over and take it!
