2 CoD 4 maps + 3 new maps headed to MW2

R120, jeez these oakes are really milking us aren't they. I mean R499 for the game and then the cheek to smash us R120 for 5 maps.

Not cool.

Indeed. It's also dividing the online players. This means that if you do not have the map pack, you will not be able to play with guys that do, at least not when they are playing the new maps.

It's hard enough findings games as it is, this could really damage the community.

Shit, I didn't even think of that :(
So they're basically forcing you to buy the maps ? Bastids !

Regarding the price: what is R120 anyway these days? Put it in real life terms...

R120 =

not even 4 packets of smokes
renting of 5 DVDs
8 x 2l Pepsi
not even close to a decent bottle of whiskey or vodka

So once you consider how much time you will get out of playing these "new" maps, then you know what the actual value will be to you. For me it should be great value

Not the point dude, dunno about you but I don't like it in the backside at all. That's all this is about, they taking the piss out of us now.

Edit: I do see what you mean though, and I will be buying it, but it is the principle, I mean they charge R499 for the game and then have the cheek to expect R120 for 5 maps. BS

How the hell are they doing that? Did anyone force you to buy the game? Did they EVER promise free DLC? I really don't understand this kind of argument. If you're a DSTV subscriber, do you have a hissy fit everytime they increase the subscription fee? It's your choice to use a product or not. Why should gamers receive better treatment than any other consumer group?

Yeh but you must understand that this has been a battle that has been on going for quite sometime now, especially with regards to them removing Dedi server functionality and then with their price hike as the game launched. Yes it has been fantastic to play, but I'm sorry this is one game that is now another one in the gust of wind behind most of us... Why pay for 5maps when we purchased the game? I can answer that even though it's rhetorical. The guys at Activision (The publishing company) are a bunch of greedy sharks and want nothing more than to dangle the spare change out of our pockets.

There will also be another 2 map packs that are going to be released so far. just to think we started off paying R500 for the game then it's R120 per DLC and for all 3 DLC's thats you spending a good R860. What do you think they will do once they stop designing maps and all that. They will shut down the servers and move on to bigger projects and no you will not be able to get your hands on those maps again, unless they release it on CD/DvD etc...

And you think they will care about their consumers? No... Because their aim has been to publish the game, make the money set for the relevant target market and they will walk away without a care in the world.

I am excited about the DLC, I think the price is fair and its great value seeing as "map packs in past COD games only contained 2 or 3 maps so getting the extra 2 COD4 maps is just a bonus in my opinion. I hope that every upcoming DLC contains at least 2 COD4 maps and who knows maybe even eventually have all COD4 maps included.

Ok settle down there Mr Pumpkin before you burst a vein or something.

Firstly I am not having a hissy fit any way or form. I am simply a tad cheesed off that they are charging us for the maps considering the outrageous retail price of MW2.

Secondly your DSTV comparison is a little daft. If ALL games went up to R499 different story, so for one publisher to come along and charge R150 more than almost all other games is, well greedy.

Hehe you know with all this hate about activision (i'm on the band wagon too), they still have managed to have sold an incredible amount of copies of the game. I was looking at statistics the other day of internet users in the world. Africa (let alone South AFrica) only hold 1.8% of the total internet users in the world. I dont say I support it but i can totally see where activision can basically say "fuck you" to south african MW2 players....

Yeah 1.8% madness. No wonder they can't hear us when we bitch :D

I'm by no means saying that Activision are looking out for their consumer's best interests. They are in it to make money just like every other developer/publisher. If I were in charge of Activision, there are many things I would do differently. What I do find unfair is the way they've been singled out as being the only publisher out there trying to milk their customers. EA have been doing it for years and years now. Just look at the FIFA franchise, how many times did they release the next title with only minor cosmetic changes? The point is, I stopped playing FIFA for good and moved onto a product that I felt was better value. Now it seems that a lot of disgruntled Activision customers are moving over to EA and Bad Company 2 (great news for BF fans as there will be loads more online players) but I just wonder how long it will be before EA does the same thing?
