so kalahari and cyberdyne has the sammy b2330h for 1,6k. now is this screen any good?

also for the timebeing, will my xfx 9600gt work with it, even if it means gaming on med to low settings

doesn't really answer my question though...but for the price is it a good deal

Just buy my lcd and your question is no longer necessary :P

Edit I had a 9600GT when my cards broke and it worked fine for most games on med settings at high res.

The 2333SW has only DVI and D-Sub input - as far as the Samsung site says, it doesn't even have HDCP on the DVI-D.

The B2330H has D-Sub, DVI-D and HDMI, with HDCP on both the DVI and HDMI. While it may not matter to many, to those who get legal hi-def content and want to play it on the monitor, it does. The fact you can connect, if you wanted, a Xbox360 AND a PS3 AND a PC to it at once on its own is a big bonus as far as I'm concerned.

Personally I'm looking to get the B2330H sometime soon, and was also wondering what peoples' opinions on it are. I only need two inputs, and seldom watch hi-def content anyway though, so at R1.4k as opposed to the R1.75k price I've found for the 2333SW vs B2330H, I might go with the former after all...

thx for this, you gave me something to think about. as although i have a xbox, i use the normal tv for it, so the lcd will only used with the pc

Its a samsung, you can't go wrong. They make amazing monitors.

LOL, now THAT's expert advice! :D

But based on what nanonyous posted, the B2330H seems to be a good deal. A bit slow though, 5ms (although Ive seen 8ms Monitors without a hint of tearing while watching DVDs). And its unclear if the HDMI has HDCP, as Samsung's product page only mentions HDCP through DVI.

If I'm not mistaken, HDMI carries HDCP signals by default, as you can't have anything but a digital signal sent to it; DVI on the other hand, when using DVI-A or DVI-I, can still accept an analogue signal, which can't be encrypted for the sake of HDCP content protection. I could be wrong on this, though.

There are some other extra features that the monitor has over the 2333SW, but on the whole they're not necessarily anything to get excited about in comparison.

As for tearing, most 'tearing' is a result of refresh rate desync and/or cable bandwidth issues as opposed to response time. Response time is where there is a delay between the signal reaching the monitor and it being sent to the LCD panel. Beyond this, the gray-to-gray contrast changing speed is your second most important factor, with like-coloured images often having little to no issue 'rendering' smoothly without 'ghosting' at 8ms, and in some cases even 16ms panels.

On the whole, it's extremely unlikely that Samsung would begin releasing an inferior product when replacing a range, which from what I can tell, is what they're doing with the B2330H over the 2333SW, given the similarities in specification and design, as well as the launch price of the former.

All that said, the B2330H seems to just be a technical upgrade of the 2333SW monitors, and may actually use the same LCD panel, and should provide exactly the same, if not a better picture at the end of the day.

Sorry, earlier I used the term "tearing", when what I meant to say was "ghosting".

I bought this from Take 2. It's going for 1.7k. Like what Nanonyous said: It's without a doubt in all probability the better version since it is a newer model of the two. The latency is the same on both monitors. Blaze could you tell me why the 2333SW >>>>> the B2330H?

I saw the B2330H at Incredible Connection, still waiting for mine. But my gawd it is HAAAAWT!! :D It really really looks so good, for the price... outstanding. Looks better than the 2333SW too, imo :)
