The only answer is, take the one you can afford, if money isn't an object, buy both and test which one you like the most.![]()
What country do you live in? Money is ALWAYS an object... or maybe it's just armgat me...![]()
I go for whichever is the best at the price that I can afford. I recently bought a Nvidia 9800gtx+ since it competed against the 4850 but the 4850s were all more expensive.
However in the end I do prefer Nvidia over ATI a bit. Just a little bit though.I've owned both.

Name me one good game that uses 10.1??? Fucking DX11 is launching end of this year most probably Q1 2010 so shhh about 10.1 it does nothing.
As for price performance a GTX 260 core 216 55nm refresh is on average $10 cheaper than a 4870. So buy it on ebay.co.za and ship it here. You will save about R1000-R1500. Nvidia performance(better than ATI even with dual GPU cards because they actually make drivers) and extra wise(cuda anyone?) is excellent. They also solve driver issues within 48 hours of a game launch. ATI releases 3 drivers a year.
