Early Look: The Sims 3

... the game will build on the gameplay mechanics of The Sims 2, update the visuals and offer a number of cool new innovations.

Sounds like a glorified expansion pack to me.

Honestly, I can't think myself into playing something like that... Give me a magnifying glass and a decent day of sunshine... I will burn that little people!

It's truly fun. An aspect missing from many of today's games. I will definitely be buying it. I couldn't wait for the end of Feb, then they delayed it. Hope it will be released 2 June 2009. I will also be buying the collector's for the extra car, lanyard and 2GB plumbob flash disk.

I just got a whole lot of Sims stuff from Incredible Connection's sale, so that should keep the kids busy for a while!

About the only part of the sim's I ever enjoyed was building the houses and gardens. Can't say it's worth getting for that alone.

Yeah, I think I might give this a bash. I do hold to my belief that playing the Sims is a massive waste of time! But it can be fun and entertaining.

Fun might ensue if Maxis made it use for us to create our own speech packs. ;)

This is another game I shall be looking forward to adding t my game library.
Provided it is reasonably priced, of course.

I wonder how many expansion packs this iteration will be getting.

You shall not win! Sims is the ultimate!

I hate the Sims. Most pointless waste of time this side of World of Warcraft. No offense to anyone who plays it :p.

I'm sorry, I don't grant The Sims an inch. It's a horribly made game with a boring purpose. The characters have needs. And after a month in-game that all goes to hell. Who cares about your needs, I need a game that's fun.

Oh, and they make too many damn expansion packs. When I buy a game I don't wanna buy 5 others to get the full benefit of it. And their expansions don't add much anyway. I'd buy an expansion pack were it worth it, but The Sims Hot Date, House Party, Pet Party, Park Party, Picnic Stuffs, Marriage Pack, New Shoes Pack, New Hair Pack Pack, Gay Pack, Love Pack, Red Pack, Blue Pack, Yellow Pack, Not Interesting Pack is just too much.

'Scuse me, I'm a huge Sims hater. No offense, you like it you like it, that's you.

Tarvos:agreed on the multiplicity of expansion packs.Maxxis is clearly milking its market for all it is worth. I see no reason that the extras could not be incorporated into the game proper-or released as free dlc. They're not THAT short of money, are they?

I could easily spend R1,500 if I wanted all the expansion packs. If it were worth it, I'd pirate it. But that bandwidth costs money.

And to think my cousins own pretty much all the expansions, heck I even bought them one because they love it so much. I still hate it with every fiber of my being.

Wow. I think you got ripped off.

Since I'm so fond of blasting this game, I'll be fair and give some background. I got Sims 1 when it first came out and loved it for at least one week. Typing in the money cheat, building awesome houses, and at that tender age, removing the bath tub while my characters were using it -- I loved the game. The only problem is, once you unpause, your character whinges. Oh god, the whinging.

I had to feed it. I send it to cook, but then it has to pee. Which first? Well, since he's started cooking, he can hold it. No. No he can't, he has to pee and he has to do it now. Well, Mr. Fancy Pants, go and pee. No. He can't do that, he's too dirty. I don't know about you, but I pee before I shower.

Either way, he goes to shower. But then he's so hungry. So he eats, but he can't eat because he has to pee, which he can't do because he has no fun. Out sequence: Always pee before watching a movie. Make snacks before hand. Eventually your character dies, proving that you should never get married, never have children, because it will utterly, 100%, ruin your life. And that's the moral of The Sims.

What's worse is the games haven't changed. It's practically the exact same engine with slightly -- and slightly meaning very, very slightly -- better graphics, some more options and some more houses.

We all know that this game appeals to 10 year old girls who enjoy the part where you (rape) have sex with someone. But it doesn't count, because the game gives you life skills.
