Help needed with Xbox 360 Firmware and Software Downloads

I need to get the new Firmware Update that allows you to use an external hard drive or memory stick as a storage device on the Xbox 360 but I don't have an Xbox Live connection.

Does anyone know of a website where I can download it to my PC and then write it to a CD so that I can load it onto my Xbox??
 
I highly doubt that is possible.

Why not just connect to Xbox live? You don't need to have a xbox gold membership to update your firmware. At least I don't think you do.
 
All u do is connect to Xbox live and you xbox will auto update. All u need is a silver account.
 
What do you mean by "xbox live connection"?

If your pc is connected to the internet via a router then unplug the ethernet cable, stick it in your xbox and reboot the system, it will ask you if you would like to update your firmware, select yes and you are good to go.

If you don't have an internet connection at home you have three options:
1. Buy one of the new (expensive) Microsoft flashdisks which has the update on them
2. Take your xbox to a mate's house and plug it there into the internet
3. Wait until the update is available here
