Bad Company 2 Sells 5 million, Consoles get New Onslaught Mode. No love for PC??

No Hobbits Allowed
Battlefiled: Bad Company 2 has officially exceeded 5 million units sold world wide. Thanks to everyone who has supported Battlefield and bought a copy. In other good news we can officially announce Onslaught mode coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Onslaught is bringing co-op gameplay to Battlefield for the first time on console. The new game mode puts you and up to three friends against the enemy on Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes and Nelson Bay – redesigned with new lighting, time of day, added vehicles and other effects. Each map has a dedicated gameplay focus, requiring different levels of teamwork in order to complete the objectives against an onslaught of enemy AI. Vehicle warfare comes to the forefront in Atacama Desert while Nelson Bay focuses squarely on infantry assault. Players can compete in squads and check individual progress via the dedicated Onslaught leaderboards.

It sounds like a fun mode away from multiplayer, but why on earth is it exclusive to consoles?

OMG, it's Horde!

\:D/

It's possible this is a console exclusive since such small games are likely to use p2p connectivity. And we all know how PC gamers feel about that. :P

Im gonna moan a bit now, but is it just me or does the target tracking/hit sensing shit in BC2 work???

I'm not the only 1 that's complaining about this, but when shooting someone point blank in the head a few times they should die, but Ive seen so many people survive that and then they turn around and kill me.

You definately aren't the only one complaining about it, Grim and I were talking about it yesterday and the hit detection is up to shit. Apparently after about 5 gigs of updates it's a bit better, but I never bothered. (This is the PC version I'm on about here)

5 gigs of updates...LOL and people seriously want to try and convince me that BC2 is Better than MW2...LMAO:D

I'm uninstalling this crap tonight and sticking to proper fps online gaming. ie MW2.

I haven't found hit detection to be much of a problem myself, but maybe that's cuz I'm ressing more guys than killing them :p.

Edit: It's only a 300mb download, not 5 gigs. And I played MW2 this weekend when they had their free weekend, and grew bored of it before Sunday hit. So I'll stick to BC2 tyvm. :)

I can confirm multiple times that I pumped 10 rounds in a guy and he stabs me right after that :/

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I said to Tinman earlier, when we were talking about it.

Well if it's only 4 players then I don't see a problem with a p2p system for this mode.

It means developing a p2p connectivity layer for PC multiplayer, though. Am I the only person amused by this? You guys wanted your dedicated servers. Now you've got them. And they're going to bite you in the bum for it. :P

Yip I am another individual who just doesn't get this games combat system.

There is just something thats just not right with it, and other than the retarded hit detection, I just can't put my finger on it.

I can't tell you how many times I have sniped a guy perfectly 3 or 4 shots hit him each time and erm nothing happens, he detects me, shoots me once and I am dead. like wtf?

There also seems to be a curse where you cannot get more than one kill without dying. I have on a number of occasions killed a guy, started shooting at the other guy and died after none of my bullets registered on the 2nd chap, giving him ample time to shoot me dead.

Honestly I dunno, as I said there is just "something" that is not kosher with this game.

Nevertheless I am going to stick with it and keep playing and see if things change with new gun unlocks maybe? Who knows.

Hehe, I'll take p2p when it can work, i.e. 4 player co-op will work, p2p for 32 player matches not so much. My experience with MW2's p2p multiplayer this weekend has left a bitter taste in my mouth and only reaffirmed my dislike of the system for multiplayer matches.

I felt the same in the beginning, especially when playing as a medic, but as I unlocked new weapons, scopes and in particular the defibrillator the game started to really grow on me.
