AMD's Phenom II X6 is here

been on nvidia since the geforce 2 series. recently switched to red side and been impressed i must say.

but i'm prepping for a splurge on 2 gtx470's or 460's once they land :)
 
Well i have a 1055T and it is much better than any 955/965BE or I 7 920. Once you OC these chips they perform excellent. We ran a 1055T next to a I7 950 , both @ 4mhz and the Thuban responded much better, has better decoding , encoding and best of all for me...average and minimum FPS is much better.
Well these are my buddies and mine's findings

I'm surprised you could get anything done at 4mhz, lol maybe only AMD is used to running that slow :p

I really dont see a need as yet for 6 core processors, i mean I have 2 quads and even under stressed conditions not all 4 cores are fully utilised. yes these new processors are an achievement ( i was in awe when i first saw 8 threads available in task manager with my I7 yet whatever I did it barely made use of 5 and the fact that most games these days are console to pc ports that doesnt fully utilise the available processing power and architecture of modern cpu's *Cough Fifa*, *cough any sega pc port*the question is why spend so much (i made the mistake once I wont do it again).
 
Well that the thing they dont cost much. R 2000-00 for the 1055T compared to what Intel's cost. Well BC2 and Metro utilize all of them and i am sure more and more games and utils will.

going to long time before any game will do that, that's why i'm more interested in things like pov ray, ray tracing, rendering and so on that actually abuse the cpu.
 
precisely, for me as a gamer i see no need to switch to 6 cores over 4.

my quad is barely stressed as is. the only game that almost makes it break a sweat is supreme commander forged alliance
