Yes Dual PSU'S are needed as the 3 GPU'S alone draw 1.2kw under load.

Pricing for this beast... R77 452 inc vat.

Considering what your getting, that price is actually not so bad;)

Yeah, but the level of extremism is bad. R77k for a PC is a little ridiculous. But ya, I guess it is a nice PC.

That is indeed a serious beast...

However, I say drop the 3 GTX 480, get a single Radeon 5970... either way you look at it, the TRI-SLI is overkill and not worth it :P

The rest is amazing though :) Can I please have it? :D

Yeah I think Joker was creating a hypothetical super machine rather than one he intends buying and using.

AAAAHhhhhhh!!!! Green drives!!! They limit performance to have better power consumption!!! My eyes!!! My eyes!!!!

Definitely a dream rig, but the problems is that it will be a R10 000 PC in four years, so I wouldn't feel too good about the R77 000 I spent on it.

I read an interesting article in the NAG once by Neo Sibeko where he made a fairly valid point. He questioned whether it was really necessary to buy the top end stuff, because basically most of us have 60hz screens and as such we're not going to see more than 60 frames per second, so what then is the use of having a monstrously expensive rig running our games at 150 frames per second.

So while it's really cool to have such a PC and it serves as great epeen, there's really no point. It's cheaper to build a fast mid range PC and upgrade it as needed.

Still want me that monster rig though :p.

i'd up the case to a Corsair Obisidian 800D or Haf 932 :p

Could be done:p

I'm a Lian Li fan boy myself but finding a case that supports the dual psu set up is quite hard especially when its almost 1am and your slightly intoxicated:p

I have to say though that according to the pricing, hardware prices have dropped dramatically in SA.
As I did a thread like this last year and that rig came out to roughly R83 000..Weird hey:)

Anyway this is just a showing, will maybe trick it out some more with some sick cooling and maybe a full write up.

Thanx for the positive feedback guys.

The thought of dual 1Gw PSU's is scary though. The electric bill will not be pretty :(.

Yeah I was quite shocked when i heard about the 1.2kw needed just for the gpu's in tri sli. Thinking about it though, If someone can afford to buy a pc like that I don't think they'll be to worried about the power usage at the end of the month:)

This PC is so freakin crazy my eyes are watering.

lol:D

If I could I would build it I swear:p

I'm in love with that cpu and the mobo, 2 beautiful pieces of crafting:)

It's actually not so bad, ive heard what some people spend on a laptop just ad R33 000 and your waxed with that rig:D

True true. I bought a R24,000 laptop in 2003. Now its a piece of garbage. Last time I buy a pricy laptop. Desktop's ftw!

@Joker, would you seriously buy this if you had the cash? It's an impressive beast, for sure, but you know in about 5 years its going to be useless for gaming...

Its not so much the cash, I think I could save up enough to get it, problem comes when you sit and think about it with a clear mind..R77 000 for a pc and nothing you can throw at it would ever seriously utilize the whole rig.

Its truly a dream machine but I think it'll always stay a "dream" Machine.

Then of course there is always new hardware coming out so you'll be forever forced to upgrade ect.
If I had the cash laying around yes I would do it but to save up for it...Neah I wouldn't:)

Anyone who spends 77k on a PC is straight forward, bonking, barking batshit crazy.

Still want one though  :p

I raise you an:
EVGA SR-2: http://www.evga.com/products/moreIn...rboard Family&series=Intel 5520 Series Family
2 x Intel Xeon X5680
4 x 480GTX
12 x 2gb Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 2000

Fantastic mobo that but not available in Sa:) not yet an anyway
4x 480gtx no way of running them all off a single psu and you would need to have them running on a single psu and the rest of the rig off another
24 gig's of ram could be done, will probably add another 12 to that setup:)
Not commenting on the xeon's, have never and will never like them.:p
