Speaking as a teacher - I hate shortened English. It bugs the everliving hell out of me. But people who are clever enough to pick up a mouse and player BF and such aren't normally the problem. People who listen exclusively to PuffleDiddly, MTV and such are. Especially the ones with their pants around their ankles and their caps on backwards.

Thank god that not only do we have parents who play games on here but a teacher as well puts those so called "Psychiatrists" overseas to shame

Let's hope they aren't the problem, because they must be rather strong to pick up a BF player.

Anyway seriously now, I'd agree with that. Caps promote violence... every time I see an idjiot (deliberate spelling) with a cap on backwards or even worse to the side I want to smash his face in, hard.

Good post. Nice points. Why the hell would you give your son a gun and then blame it on games?

And some of the most intelligent people I've met have been gamers. Some of them abbreviate but that's not even a problem. In fact, I've seen more Jock kids who AREN'T gamers with MUCH worse spelling, grammar, punctuation and general English than a gamer. Using the internet and all that actually seems to increase skills in that department.

Most of what I've learned regarding English has been from Wikipedia, something I wouldn't have gotten into were it not for being a gamer.

What happened in her story is obviously a tragedy. However, wrong thing to blame. Suicide is a personal choice, not something you should do from playing D&D. In fact, if you're stupid enough to kill yourself over Dungeons and Dragons then...well...you win the Darwin award, and thank you for removing yourself from the gene pool.

Games and movies aren't causing violence, its coming from some place else. I play plenty of games and watch plenty of violent and often grotesque movies, but if you know anything about me you will know that I am in no way violent (unless you start the violence, I do employ self defence )

B-b-but I don't game. I just hang out with gamers and their forums.

I think I could prove that gaming promotes grammar and spelling natzi-ism more then violence. I've never met a gamer that acted out any violent tenancies, but I have met several that are grammar or spelling natzies.

I don't doubt that playing a violent game or watching a violent movie can increase the likelihood of violent tenancies, but I will argue with anyone who suggests that it's the cause of violent actions such as these school shootings for example.

However it is the parents job to teach and train their children. If they do a piss poor job, you get idiots like the German school shooter. Of course the parents will never admit that they did a poor job, it is so much easier to blame a game, movie, music, etc, it also means that they don't have to live that on their conscience.
