Sony thinks Microsoft and Nintendo will release next gen console first

Does Sony think this is a good thing? If the other console makers bring out a new console it'll complete destroy the current consoles on the market.... including the PS3.
 
Yup like the 360 did for the PS2, I don't think the combined sales of all three have reached the sales of the PS2 ;-)
 
we all know sony are a bunch of knobs ! when the ps2 was released in 2000 they claimed that the emotion engine powering it was better than sliced cheese, the reality was the gamecube and xbox 1 was more powerful consoles and the ps2 wasnt even much faster than the dreamcast but the sony hype brigade caused the demise of it ! currently if the ps3 is soo much powerful why havent we seen anything significant 4 years after launch, sure uncharted 2 looked good but so does alan wake on the 360 and mass effect 2 ! having the most powerful cpu does not mean a console will win a generation and being the idiots that they are they should know that since both the ps1 and ps2 were less powerful than the competition and still won their respective generation. I think sony will try any hype to get out of third place cause im sure going from 1st to 3rd must really suck.

devil may cry 4 could never be done on other consoles without the cell ! it ended up on both the 360 and pc (sony fail)
Virtua fighter 5 can only be done on the ps3 due to its nvidia gpu ! ended up on the 360 being a superior title (sony fail)

same can be said for assasins creed, gta 4 etc.

Cpu power in consoles does not mean anything !!!!!!!
 
Dohc it seems you're still a little butthurt over the PS2 > Dreamcast
Oh and Alan Wake looks good but nowhere near the level of Uncharted or God of War 3
Say what you want about CPU power and blah blah, PS3 is pawning the 360 with a weaker GPU

Might also be due to the fact that they're giving the console away with everything but Happy Meals these days.
 
Well, South Africa was a pretty PS1 and PS2 dominated market until the XBOX 360 came along. All of the sudden with the arrival of the big white box of death, Sony saw a massive hit in their South African client base. Now they're being cocky AGAIN by thinking that those same people will again choose an older system of a next-gen XBOX ?

Someone is smoking something very expensive. Consumers want the latest and greatest toys. If you can't keep up with your competitors you're going to get left behind badly. That's the rule.
 
Personally i see no difference between the 2 atm, if ms had to make a 720 before PS4 i think 720 will kill PS3. Cause atm i really dont see much difference between the 2 (besides the fact u can upgrade the ps3 hard drive, well with the old ps3 fat)
 
The slims HDD is also upgradeable Caboose.
To "destroy" Sony, MS will need a much stronger games lineup than what they've been offering these past 2 years
 
My 2c, i think the Xbox is at the end of its development lifespan and i believe may believe this is true.Especially since games are getting bigger xbox 8.4gb dvd discs are becoming small, that is why i believe they had a technical refresh where the hardrive is now include in the Xbox (slim).

Not to bring this up, but the PS1 and PS2 although weaker than the competition had one thing over them games for the masses and availability to all and the fact that they were uhm, chipable. I believe the 360 share the same popularity cause many poeple just flash their console and buy R70 copy which is wrong.

I chose not to support piracy, and went with PS3 (i am not saying all xbox users are the same) and never look back since my 60GB model (which i still own) to my current 120GB model i have had few issues with the console. I believe since the Xbox slim isnt chipable at the moment it wont be such much of appeal to most users. Most of the people who ghave bought Xbox out of my friends bought them cause they were significantly cheaper and also cause the games were cheaper in one sense.

I believe this post mite be delete due to regulations but this is the truth behind the current console war. And why Xbox is dominant atm.
 
Not speaking from any console perspective (because I have never owned one) I see that if they do decide to "fall behind" as it were, it's not such a bad thing. The Xbox720 comes out, Sony takes a look, and then does one better! They may have the design in the works, but you can be assured these designs will change when they take a look at the competition. It's a huge game of one-upmanship IMO.
 
I don't think your post will be deleted. You're talking about piracy in a constructive manner and it's on-topic. I actually agree with you 100%. The first thing some of my friends asked me when they were in the console market is "can you chip the console?". It's a sad truth that many "casual gamers/consumers" simply don't care about piracy as an issue and only want the cheapest form of entertainment they can get....I refer to those people as "non-gamers", because a true gamer will laugh at anyone who bases a decision on whether or not a console can be chipped to play pirated games.
 
I think it's far too soon to introduce any new consoles into the market. Let's compare the PS2 generation to our new generation consoles. Compared to the PS2, in terms of sheer innovation, originality, immersion and variety, they all fail. Compare the amount of PS2 games that left a warm spot in your heart to the amount of PS3 or Xbox360 games that did the same and it's probably a lot less.

Personally, I think the PS3 and Xbox 360 still have a lot to do before they evolve. Developers need to stop being so money grubbing and make something interesting dammit. Then again, there is the problem that these consoles are still extremely expensive to develop for, and this leaves a lot of independent or smaller companies at a disadvantage. When they're at a disadvantage it also leaves gamers at a disadvantage as we're forced to indulge in 6-hour long, casual targeted, commercial titles.

If these consoles were cheaper to develop for then we'd have far more variety and there would be a lot more innovation and things can only become cheaper over time. It's way too early to introduce the new consoles. Can only imagine how expensive it's going to be to develop for these new consoles.
 
ye man dont hate that the PS2 won last gen.
I thin the saddest part is that X-Box original was dropped and almost no games once the 360 came out.
So sad to see microsoft treat loyal customers.
Guess that is why tehy dont feel so bad with the RROD.
