Another noob question - which version do you guys play? EU or US?

EU all the way..Not sure they sell the box version of US in SA...So much more conveniant to play EU as their times are basically the same as ours. Once u start raiding, having to begin a 3 hour raid at 11pm (if u play US) is not so cool! So yeah, EU is what most Saffers play

Thanks for all the help.

Evening Voicy :)

Quick Question: Is it worth buying LOTRO, I saw lotro shadows of angmar for R80, with 45 days free play. Do you need the first LOTR to play this one or how does it work?

O and I went to buy WOW battlechest, but zaps didnt have any stock :(

Hey Spooner

In WoW terms:
Shadows of Angmar = Vanilla (Original)
Mines of Moria = TBC
Siege of Mirkwood = WotLK

Also, Incredible Connection should have it for R60. You'll have to copy the client from someone near you or be prepared for a 10GB download.

But yeah for that price, getting 45days free "full play - not just a trial limited acc.", it's well worth it!

Cool thanks voicy. Might just DL it, but then there is no trial hey?

Next month it becomes free to play ... basically a permanent "trial/limited" mode for people who don't subscribe to the premium service.

Buy the game, pull the updates and play it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and for that price it's pure win. Having said that, for the last 3 weeks or so I haven't been playing, just had life happen I suppose.

O and Voicy - that 10GB download, is that just Shadows of Angmar? Or is that the expansions as well?

Well ... yes and no... yes, you need it to play SoA, just like you'd need the latest patch in WoW even if you're on vanilla. However, if you buy the expansions, you just enter a code and you have all the content already. When I upgraded to Mines of Moria, I didn't touch my CD's, I just used the code. Also the last expansion is an online only one, no physical box set. They just update your account automatically and when you log back in you're sorted.

So the 10GB includes everything even if you only have the original. I guess it's because the game received an overhaul so the patches affect everything.

Cool thanks guys. Got uncapped so not to worried about the patches.

just to understand though correctly though, do you have to buy the game or can you just get it free??

sorry confused. Whats the point of buying the battlechest if you can get it from someone?

You get the files from anyone, but you pay for having an actual online account.

Think of it like online banking. You can use anyone's PC who has the software installed, but you can only log in using your account that you pay for every month.

So you can come to my house and log in with your account to play...or if you have issues, I can use your account at my house to log on and (steal your gold) play with your character when you're on holiday.

So without a paid up / active account, having all the latest software patches and expansion won't get you anywhere further than a pretty login screen.

Thanks dude, that is a very good explanation of it :D
