Seatbelts

So do you guys wear the every time you go for a driver or just driving somewhere?
Do you also make your passengers wear theirs when they don't put it on?

I get into the car and start engine and put on my seatbelt, I do this automatically not even thinking about it.

Dude are you bored go to bed:p

I put on my seatbelt all the time like a machine:p

I dont :(,I just forget..

But when I see a police roadblock I grab that seatbelt faster than a cowboy draws his pistol :D

I always put on my seatbelt, except if I had do undo it to unlock the gate or summat and there's like a 1m drive to our parking spot. My mom always insists that everyone in the car wears their seatbelt, so I get that habit from her.

it's a habit in my own car, or anyone else that I drive with that put it on automatically when sitting up front.
if I am in the back usually don't, unless its a kuck driver.
If you have airbags in your car, it is a must to put it on, you do not want to be flying face first into a airbag with no seatbelt to hold you back.

I dont wear a seatie. BUt i Put on my harnass when I go to the track

Jip all the time... it just feels weird driving without it on.... and i do insist my passengers wear their seatbelts even in the back as i see it as if the car came out with it use it!

have to wear mine, otherwise the little alarm in the car would make you insane...

Same.

It saved my bacon when I rolled my 2month old car. :/

Always put my belt on. If you're a passenger in my car, you either put your seatbelt on, or you walk to where you're going.

*edit*

What car was it voicy? :/

Hey guys,

I was at an accident scene today on the N2 where 2 people died after been flung from the vehicle. I tried to help one of them before he passed away. He wasn't wearing a seatbelt and had his whole ear ripped off and I could see his skull.

So yeah, buckle up.

EDIT: Green_Orb, it was a Corsa 1.6GSi...Rolled it on a wet gravel patch around a bend @3am on a trip back from CT.

:O

Wow Voicy, sorry to hear that but at least you are okay. But eish, why driving from CT at 3am?

I always wear my seatbelt and insist that others do as well. I won't move the car until everyone is safe because you never know what the other people on the road are going to do, even if you're a 'good driver'.

I never put on my seatlbelt . Dont even ask my passenegers not cause of it just its very uncomfortable

What is Uncomfortable about it? The more you put it on the more natural it feels, also if you drive like a maniac it will keep you in your seat.

When I go on long trips I always leave early morning. That way you have 2hrs of darkness and the rest of the trip light.

But yeah - it's not about how well YOU can drive, it's about the other idiot who overtakes in on-coming traffic and has someone swerving onto you. My colleague was hospitalized for 2 months last year when 2 oncoming trucks were overtaking on a blind rise forcing him to swerve off the road. Rolled his bakkie and wrote it off.

To add to that accident on Tuesday morning. The 26yr old mother wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was flung from the vehicle. When I stopped to help I found her body wrapped around a barrier post with her 3yr old son crying next to her body.

Seatbelts are there for a reason. Use them. If you don't believe me - just let a buddy drive 30kmh with you in the backseat of the car and slam on brakes. See what happens.

People always flout the one in a million type story of seatbelts being cause of death... those people need to learn what statistics are...

I have a video of a bakkie rolling and when you see the body's being flung out the windows I think you will quickly change your mind about not wearing a seat belt.
