DOTA strategy guide

I thought it would be cool to start a DOTA strat guide where guys can post different builds / strategies for the different heroes. I always find myself looking for a new build and have found some pretty cool ones. Post your favourite heroes and what you build with them.

I played Naix yesterday, and normally not a big fan of him. I got him a stygian and he seriously owns. Is it worth getting extra lifesteal with him such as vlads or satanic?

Well I think that’s what actually sets apart the good players from the noobs :D - anyone can run in head first and hope for the best, but the sneaky tactful one will normally come out on top. I sometimes lack tack and end up dying due to stupidity. But yeah if I am using someone like bounty or rhasta, you normally want to come from behind, try get them alone.

yeah, and if your charging you want to wait till the enemy is vulnerable (cooldown/no mana/used Ultimate)...etc and of course, have a plan of action of what to do if he runs or help comes :D

Well im gonna post a little strat my clan likes to do that i dont think any1 knows about.

Dark Seer + Sand King = Epic Combo (why u may ask)

Dark seer ion shells sand king, sand king burrow strikes into center of enemies and starts epicenter, with every1 stunned dark seer casts vacuum around sand king = complete and utter ownage. (can use a bkb for protection against stun but they hardly have anytime and k@k themselves)

Now that is what I am talking about, never knew that and it sounds like a sweet start. Will deff try that. Thanks Caboose.

Basically all u are looking for is heroes that have good synergy (not the sports drink) with each other, that strat me and and another guy found by absolute flook in a pub game just passed to my clan lol.

I guess it can also work with Magnus but just not as effective

Yeah I think there are lots of cool combos out there. I find the biggest problem is that I only play pub games, and 90% of the time teamies are always on their own mission. Its aawesome to play with good guys that compliment your hero.

Getting to pick your characters in DOTA seems to ruin the fun. I prefer just going on random and taking whatever crappy character I get. Mind you, I am terrible at DotA.

I am with you on that. I never join AP games. And I must be honest, I really hate NON EM games....So I generally only join EM games, I know people say it sux and its noob. But seriously non em games annoy me, they just take to long not to mention it takes forever to get an item unless you are pawning and farming like a mad man. If you die forget it, you will never get an item. I just find em balances it out. Even the guy not doing so great has a fair chance. It is also quicker and to the point. I like to think of em as 20/20 and non em as a 5 day :D

Creating a guide for DOTA would be pretty hard, you'd finally get through every hero and its strat, then a new version will come out that nerfs half the heroes and adds 3 more :(

Best of luck though :p

Well there will always be basic strategies that don't change due to a new version. I mean that would be a bit dumb. New versions just address bugs and balances, and yes new heroes are added. But there are still a number of strategies one can use / learn from other players.
