Please let me know how it runs. I was thinking of doing the same now that i have done some thinking. A 5870 costs about the same as 2x GTX460's. Hmmm. Please let me know.
 
Tank, what did you upgrade from? I have a gtx275 and I'm waiting for the next iteration of the gtx480 before I decide on my next upgrade. Had a 4870x2 that I sold because it just gave me trouble, so I'm a bit loathe to go with another multi-gpu solution.
 
I think i am going to order 2x GTX460's 1gb tomorrow. They are gonna take month to get them from computers only. Thank you for the idea. Its going to beat any GTX480. Let me know how your 768mb go. If you could change though i would.
 
hmmm... My R4500 for my 5870 not looking so great now... Darn you rapidly improving pc hardware!!!!
 
first i had a 8800gt, was gonna sli it, got my bro to post back the one he had. bought him a 4850. 8800 2 get's zonked in the post, send him the last 8800gt, he sends me the 4850.

so i'm going from a 4850 to 2 460's

and nah, even the 768mb jobs pomp a 480.

so nope quite happy. now they just need to get here :p

look i love the 4850, but i've hit some strange problems since installing it.

weird crashes i didn't have with the 8800.

i'm guessing my nvidia based mobo does not like the amd gpu...

That will always be the downside of pc`s as soon as you fork out your life savings for a pc its out dated and there is something newer and better on the market... I want another R6000 just for upgrades on what i have...

How is your PSU handling it? ( I have the coolermaster M700)

Any CPU bottlenecking going on? Noise wise? I heard that the new 465's are much quieter...
 
have a look here! these cards are beasts! i cant wait till i get mine now! Tank, have you got your cards yet? I am going to Pretoria soon so i am just gonna stop over at computers only to get mine! also gonna get 2 but like i said the 1gb. Super sweet!

Computersonly received the stock yesterday.

as for quieter i'll have to compare to my 8800GT's, those got pretty noisy... they were full reference design.
