9800gtx help neede

Hi i have a 9800 gtx that we never used due to the fact that it only works with motherboards with a fsb of 800 does anyone know what i can do to make it work on all other motherboards
 
thats how i understand it but it only works on two mobos that has fsb of 800 just got me a new asus p5 today to go and test it on again a buddy said i need to flash the card
 
Sounds like something is wrong as the GPU is not linked to the FSB at all. Should just work...
 
Yeah - you're buddy is either pulling your leg or is 12 years old. A graphics card, especially PCI-E cards have NOTHING to do with the FSB and should work. Sounds like your problem is somewhere else.
 
No no no no no no no no you do not have to flash your card. Do not listen to your friend. Flashing the card is a very bad idea.
 
Thanks for the advice guys ill go and build it into this new mobo tonight and see what happens worst case senario ill use my 4890
 
I still have a 9800 GTX...can still play all games well...so don't leave it somewhere to rot...performs well for it's relatively cheap price.. and goodness me please don't listen to that friend of yours..sometimes it's not even wise to listen to a guy who thinks he is the shizzle because he has a A+ certificate under the knee..
