Mkv files

I prefer using Media Player Classic - Home Edition, and "FFDShow Tryouts" for my Codec pack rather than K-Lite or any of the other bloated packages.

any good reasons why ?

Oooh ... the challenge :p

Getting back to VLC - this was fairly recent, but for some reason VLC doesn't want to play my R2 DVDs properly. I tried VLC because, at the time, I wasn't running decryption software - and it was a complete garble. Which was funny, because we are R2 - so I changed my settings back - still garble.

I finally solved the problem by installing DVD43 (works like a bomb, minus explosions) and playing the file on MPC. VLC still garbled it :/

Mind you, none of the above has anything to do with mkvs - but was an issue I had with VLC regardless :D

But, I prefer MPC over VLC because of the subtitle rendering I mentioned before - fansubbers tend to use fonts and colours (most of the time) which are fairly friendly on the eye - VLC just has a default font ... which means changing settings and stuff in order not to claw your eyes out.

I also dont like VLC, the whole interface and everything just lewks wrong :/

Media Player Classic always does the jobbie for meh selfs :D

What don;t you like about the interface? It looks faitly simple and uncluttered to me.
I prefer music and video players to perform their intended functions as unobtrusively as possible.
