Sounds like gfxcard. Mine did something similar, after a day I couldnt even get into windows. Figured it was my Hdd failing. I was about to burst into tears when I gave the pc to my brother to have a look at and he tried a few things, in the end swopped my gfx card with his and the pc booted fine. So took 2 weeks to get my card swapped out and now its all happy again.

Gave me a good reason to format tho and installed win 7.

Good good maybe its only the gpu then.

Lol yeah I got to format since I need to repartition my hhd so my C drive is bigger atm its only 30gig with 6gigs left. But with all my email and games on it just don't really want to.

In my years of IT xp, 90% of the time issues like that are GPU, some reason the GPU tends to go first on a PC.

Next to that it is Mobo, but then you either have no screen, or no power at all.

The lines you are seeing indicates a good chance that it is is the GPU packing up.

Try stick it in the oven, read up on google how to do this, it often sorts the card out :)

Cool i had a very Awesomest one!
No i havent fixed it yet... im dreading it. i should actually just run a windows repair as formating it is the lazy techies way of fixing things.... i should make a point of doing it to night as everytime i switch it on now it makes a different funny noise...

Lol Waco, I didnt even bother, fortunately mine was still 10months old so took it back to the shop and had it replaced lowly GT220 but better than nothing :P

Yeah true but without work its better to try than not to. Mine is about 3 years old if I remember correctly but with us moving a few times I have no idea where the invoice is at. Should has stapled it to te box like we doing these day's.

If I am getting a new one looking at the 4850 or the 250.
