SC 2 lag

Yo

I get lots of lag in 2v2 and 3v3's occasionally in 1v1

Which ISP offers the best lag free sc2 experience ???

thanks

The reason for the lag is because the B.net servers are overseas, so the signals take about half a second to go back and forth. Theres nothing you can do about that really.

hmm i forgot i had some leftover prepaid accounts. Helkom suxxors IS is >

This is the ping test to some UK server

Funny you mention lag. My g/f and I played against each other and we had lag and we're in the same room! So much for their optimised "over lan once authenticated via battle.net" promise. Ah well...maybe we'll get it working that way one day.

Just something I think I should point out here:

I've noticed that if there is ONE guy that has a really bad connection he somehow causes LAG for everyone because the BNET server tries to compensate for his bad connection. If everyone's connection is stable, then there's no lag.

So if you're playing a game and you're lagging for some unknown reason, it's probably one of the other players that has a bad connection and doesn't even realise it.

There is an ingame warning stating which user is slowing down the game when this happens

I'm on Mweb Uncapped and I can't say I've had any problems. I've only had one laggy game so far and that was a problem on my side.

Not quite true. The game is peer-to-peer, so if you play in a LAN against a friend via bnet, you'd get LAN speeds. If you join a random game, it all depends on who you are playing against and how good their connections are. I have played many games now, and have only experienced bad lag in 4v4s.

Usually its one of the other players since its always showing "waiting for noob123".

Just want to add: Over the long weekend, 6 friends of mine were lanning SC2. My friend and I joined in their games and we played 4v4's lag free.

I disagree, if you create a custom game 1v1 against an ai(Not versus Ai the button, but an actual custom game 1v1), by yourself and you play against an ai, inside the custom game, there is some form of lag and delay.

Yip. All the traffic HAS to be passed through the BNET server that is hosting the game. They do this in order to try and prevent cheating. So even if your mate is sitting right next to you, BOTH of your traffic is being sent to the Euro servers. You do not get LAN speeds and you're VERY lucky if you have a game that has no LAG.

I'm on Afrihost Capped and i must say 90% of the time i hardly notice any lag. There is probably more lag on the uncapped accounts due to higher usage?

I play on MTN's HSDPA and I rarely have lag. I actually think the new netcode for Starcraft 2 is out of this world.

Indeed, its not quite as good as HoN's netcode, but its still very good. Most of the people on my friends list atm are from Europe and we play loads of games with either very little or no lag at all.
