If you thought Activision couldn't out do the night vision goggles from Modern Warfare 2 - think again. Today they've announced the Hardened and Prestige Editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops. The cream of the crop Prestige Edition comes with a remote controlled surveillance vehicle inspired by the RC-XD from the game. It has a range of up to 200 feet and contains a fully-functioning remote camera that transmits both video and audio to the handset. Sounds perfect for those in home remote pest control situations - though you'll have to supply your own explosive C4.

Looks quite awesome, although I cant find the value for money in buying a special edition like this :P

I wouldn't worry to much about that Frank. I've never seen a COD game run badly, they are usually very scalable. Also IMHO, it will run roughly like mw2.

and like mw2 i have sneaking susipcion that pc owners will get passed over for the fancy editions

Justification doesn't matter - me want :D

Doesn't it use the same engine as MW2 ? If it is then it will run like a dream. I'm more worried about MoH to be honest.

IT uses an Upgraded version of the COD5 engine, looks very similar to MW2 though, but it will run good don't worry :)

Cool cool :) Just don't want something along the lines of that Frostbite engine ... ek het so bietjie afgekak met daai een.

Okay so the buggy streams proper video and audio over wireless over 200ft away? EPIC. WANT ONE.

Looks rather nice.

Any news on what something like this would cost?

Yeah, a GTX460 will have no problem running COD7 im quite sure. Your older 9500GT etc will probably have a problem there.

No official word yet on the price, although totalplaystation mentions :

However, those fans willing to throw down the big bucks (and Darwin knows you people exist in large-enough numbers), the Prestige Edition is a beast of a purchase. Along with the aforementioned Hardened Edition pack-ins, you will get, for $149.99, a remote controlled surveillance vehicle. Apparently, a RC-XD is a multiplayer perk that has been recreated as a working toy for you to bug your older sister with. It features color video and audio output from up to 200 feet away, so you can easily have your own Home Alone 3 adventures this holiday season.

Same thing?

I am rather undecided. Not sure if its worth a grand.

Meh. Looks a bit gimmicky for my liking. Awesome gimmick, but a gimmick nonetheless. And it will probably cost about a grand more here anyway.
I have made it this far in my life without a remote controlled camera buggy :)

Ditto, was thinking the same there. What would one use it for anyway? Nice, but not necessary.

I thought it was a modified version of the MW2 engine? Thats what they said on the one gameplay trailer i'm sure?

Read over here

Multiplayer
* Multiplayer has been in development from day one.
* Lean is back!
* Vehicles will be returning.
* Create-A-Class 2.0 includes deep customization and new features.
* The game will include a “barebones” game mode.
.* Many familiar weapons will be making a return, including the AK-47.
* PC gamers will be able to enjoy the comfort and luxury of dedicated servers.
* The PC version will have an anti-cheat software, but it’s unknown if it’s Punkbuster.
* There will be support for the competitive community, which will include great tools.
* The team focusing on the multiplayer aspect of the game is twice the size (World at War).
Co-op Mode
* There will be 2-4 player co-op.
* Supports 2 player offline split-screen.
* It won’t be based on the singleplayer campaign.
* Zombies might be making a return from World at War.
Miscellaneous
* The game engine is a heavily modified version of the IW engine which was used in World at War
* The game runs at 60 FPS!
* Physics destruction is going to be limited, so no Battlefield Bad Company 2 style “blow holes in the walls” gameplay.

VERY good news. MP as a focus point is good for anyone. It seems they learned from their mistake with no dedi's too.

More info please? Is this a "no-hud"/"no-items"/"no-vehicle" mode?

Anti cheat software good, but the "great tools" thing means insta-promod... which i don't believe is a good thing. It essentially splits the playing field in my opinion.

* There will be 2-4 player co-op.
I am so looking forward to this... COOP makes FPS games a whole new ball game and is a refreshing change from the usual.

* Physics destruction is going to be limited, so no Battlefield Bad Company 2 style “blow holes in the walls” gameplay.
Not a bad thing at all... Frostbite is a very buggy engine and causes a lot of issues. Plus it needs a monster rig to run well, which is a barrier to entry.

All in all, looks VERY promising and I will most definitely be getting this game. Keep the info coming COD dudes :)

Okay guys, before this comes out I would like to make a prediction on this:

They are going to remove dedicated server support from this game RIGHT before launch due to some "reasons".

That's my prediction - and if it comes true you heard it here first! lol
