National Strike tomorrow

Hi guys,

I've just been informed as well, there will be a national strike tomorrow across all sectors. We've been warned that you should be careful when going to work and going back to your homes and be vigilant when traveling anywhere tomorrow so that you don't accidentally run into any angry mobs.

So please - take care out there. This country of us sucks balls, just make sure it doesn't kick yours.

Make sure to go fill up your tank since a lot of them are also striking now.

Apparently some petrol stations are still operating as per normal but the guys are showing up out-of-uniform so they don't get beat-up by those morons who ARE striking. I don't think we have too much to worry about. A lot of the people who have an IQ higher than 10 are realizing that striking is NOT the answer to everything and it's not worth the risk to lose your job so that someone else can get 1% more on his/her paycheck.

*sigh*

Just read a headline saying that VW closed their MASSIVE Uitenhage plant because of the last strike.

I hope no one here is waiting for a new VW? :S

I personally hope that this strike completely SMASHES our economy into such a bad state that all 1.3 Million of those striking morons lose their jobs and end up with their asses on the streets.

Well VW is a huge account with our company and a lot our work came from Uitenhage. So now all these strikers are sitting without jobs anyway and other people lose work as a result.

...other people lose work as a result.

Those are the ONLY people I have sympathy for. How many innocent people have died due to hospitals that stopped functioning? How many school students are going to fail this year due to their education being disrupted not only by the silly soccer, but by this useless strike?

Flippen gemors wat hulle self "mense" noem.

Well happy for once the governments is not just giving them what they want this will not last long they are going to start missing there pay checks so they are going to get violent or going to go back to work, I think it will be the first option. I mean can't they think straight international investors don't want to invest here because of this very reason witch means less money for them at the end of the day and less jobs.

Neo the fact that innocent people have died, at which the unions simply shrug their shoulders, is another thread altogether. It is despicable.

Sgt, yes the government is sticking to their guns (well sort of), but they bought this mess on themselves by allowing Vavi and the unions to blackmail companies (and now the government themselves) into doing their bidding, with no responsibility for their actions at all.

Remember, our military was going to strike to show solidarity, so violence won't even be curbed if it gets to that.

Bleak days ....

What freaks me out about these guys striking is how little they actually gain in salary vs how much they lose whilst striking. Let's be optimistic and say they earn R3000 per month. Now they want say 10%. That's obviously R300. Their strike lasts approx a month and they get 7% eventually. That works out to R210. So now they are effectively R3000 short due to no pay whilst striking. So for 10 MONTHS they are simply working to make up that deficit. Only after basically a year are they enjoying the benefits of the increase.

Why not accept the first offer of say 5% straight away without having to strike and thus lose any money and make an extra R150 straight away for ten months?

Densweep when I was still at Toyota I asked them that where going on the strike the same question.

The short answer is that the union says its the thing to do and if you don't they come into your house at night and kill your family and leave a snake in your door.

Unfortunately not many union members are known for their application of logic.

Waco, since the unions are only after their members money, they are threatened into striking all the time. It's all just brainwashing - join our union, strike and we'll take care of everything... (laugh)

So true dude asked one of the people that work for us as well he said at the elections the ANC fanatics say if they don't vote ANC they will know and come and kill them, so we told them that is a load of bull and they all voted for other parties and are still alive. I think the one thing they are still doing is playing on the level of intelligence or education and that they don't know better.

I think all these strikes are actually the unions getting desperate because it is well know that they are slowly loosing members, so now they are organizing all this increased wage crap so that the people think they can't go without the union. I do think they deserve better salaries, but then they must also start doing there dam jobs.

I see they want government to drop the no work no pay policy :D then I am also striking :P

So true. In my opinion everything that is messed up in the country can be attributed to a lack of education. Crime would decrease because suddenly people know they can get an honest job and also are smart enough to realise the cops will catch them, because the cops are also smarter. Absolutely everything will improve.
Government should at almost the expense of almost everything, make sure every child in this country receives a top notch education and in less than ten years we will start seeing the benefits and in 30-50 years we will be a 1st world country.
