Do you suck at finishing games because there is always something new to play?

To an extent this does affect me. I've now resorted to not buying any more games for a while so I can just finish the ones haven't yet.

no don't have that issue, as money is currently quite tight post upgrade, so no new games for me for a while

plus i'm saving up for the insane end year rush

Only time i don't finish games are when they stop speaking to me. BioShock 2 a good example.

I generally playthrough and finish a game before the next title comes out. The only time I won't bother to finish a game is if its absolutely crap without any redeeming qualities. Obviously some days I end up coming in red-eyed to work =)

Thanks to a weakness for what I perceive as bargains, I have far too many games and platforms...more than I'll ever get around to playing unless George Soros were to transfer
a hefty sum of money into my bank account. I have been thinking of putting most of them into a box and getting rid of them for years now....it's the going through my collection and deciding what I should part with that is difficult for me.

Not to derail the thread or anything, but the thing that pissed me off most about BS 2 was that the ragdolls and the destructible physics were in slow-mow compared to the rest of the game (Much like Dawn of War 2). This broke the immersion so much for me that I stopped playing after about an hour, and that after trying to find a solution... What a fail

It's not as if they have to redesign a whole game engine :(. COME ON with E3 please!

Surely they are working on a New Source Engine, 3?

I don't push to finish games in one weekend. Sometimes I'll leave them for a while then come back and play more.

No they just add to the Steam engine, they don't redesign it.

It really depends on the game itself. Some games grip me from start to finish. Some I just get bored with and eventually uninstall due to HDD space requirements.

Source is long in the tooth. My guess is they're seriously reworking it for ep3. Although it may be that they decided to make an all-out guns blazing exit to the series. But Ep2 was boss.

I only finish the games that keep me interested, that's fun, that isn't a chore play, that have no glaringly obvious cock ups in engine/movement/aim (ie. many ported titles), and dare I say it, what actually works on my hardware, LOL. If it's super resource heavy, I leave it for later, when I can experience it's full omg-wtf-that-looking-ama-zing.

Replay value also spurs me on to finish a game. If I see, that I loaded a previous area/stage/section/map, and the outcome is different, or the game allows me to make different decisions, to complete an object, that not only makes me want to replay the title, but while I'm playing for the first time, it'll push me to finish it that much quicker. Examples would be FEAR, Farcry and Crysis series. Better AI or sandbox maps/stages, are win (obviously I mean the ones that work well, not the I-can-do-anything, including work myself into a position, where I can't continue type of sandbox)

Oh yes, and number one reason, I don't finish a game is, something way cooler, rocked up...

I do try to finish every game that I buy, but sometimes I just lose interest or the game frustrates me so much that I will never touch it again. Of the 33 PS3 games I have atm, I have about 12-14 that I have yet to finish and probably never will. Some of those games can't really be finished as such, e.g Fifa 10 or Soul Calibur IV. Other's, like Heavenly Sword and Red Faction: Guerilla, I'm right at the final boss/last battle, but I just can't get myself to put the game in my console and sit and finish it.

I've never really had this problem, I get a new and I stick with it untill It's done before even thinking about the next game. Exceptions however are really long games like diablo 2, which after I dunno how many years I still haven't finished it along with the 1st 6 Tomb Raider games.

Funny thing though, all these unfinished games I can right now this very second reach up to my shelf, grab the disc install and play untill my fingers fall off, but thats the problem, my fingers will fall off well before the end credits start rolling.

I tend to finish games. However I also tend to buy games when they are on special. Especially at Steam. I just can't seem to resist it. This whole year I haven't had all that much time to play games but that's changing now and I'll have free time again in the evenings. Time to play some games! (plus the added bonus of having a new machine... woohoo!)
