Which uncapped ADSL to go for?

Hey there guys.

So we ran out of our 9GB cap that Telkom so kindly provided us with the line speed...and my mom is looking at an uncapped solution.

She really doesn't like the Mweb one, neither do I too much - so we found this solution from OpenWeb: http://www.openweb.co.za/uncapped/ and we were looking at the section marked "Gold Uncapped *special*" and were looking at the shaped one as the unshaped is well...:eek: TBH.

Now I'm happy with this, however I do want to know if they unshape it at night or off-peak hours? I don't use it much during the day as I'm too busy w/ school etc. however I do wish to do downloading and gaming at night - but I can't if they shape it heavily.

Of course I can queue the downloads and they will take a little bit longer but...

Is this a good solution, or are there better solutions for a similar price? we're looking at about the 600-800 price range and we DO need the 4/8 Mbs line.

Sigh...well, what is their pricing for a 4 Mbs line? Do I need another router? If I do I can't go w/ them as we just got a new one. I know they unshape the lines at night...

Now I had a look at afrihost for R497 per month and it also seems to be very good...now do they unshape their lines at night?
 
Well hearing the complains with Mweb for gaming I would not go with them. Also hearing the complains from Afrihost won't go with them ether.

Its a trow up between openweb gold packages and axxess uncapped. Me personally would go with axxess since I have had no problems with them and they are very stable and great for gaming.
Had a shit time with openweb so I won't go with them.

Seems gaming will be shaped with uncapped gold from openweb
 
Well only have axxess 384 uncapped but it doesn't fail me when I game. Even get better pings than my WA account on BFBC2

Lolz just joking man but if only had a problem on my 360kbps line never with my 4mb line

OK, thanks. So I should go with axxess? They say they will shape you if you're within the top 50% of users, now I don't know how much data we would have to move to achieve that...That's why I was looking at Openweb. I also wasn't sure about Afrihost, but won't go with them - thanks. BTW the account they seem to be offering there is shaped, do they unshape it later at night?

Well all of them are month to month contracts so if you find its not working for you then just change. And they hiding the question your asking I am trying to find it but nothing so far.

Thanks so much for looking. I have also had a look, but it seems you will only be presented with a ToS or some agreement after the credit card has been handed over to Axess :/
 
Ok, we have decided to go with the 4Mbs line from Axxess - you say they are good and we won't be shaped! We'd have to use over 200Gbs in a month and I don't think we could move that much...
 
After just speaking to an OpenWeb sales rep, I would rather use a postal dove than ever speak to them again. The guy was more than useless. he seemed as if he really didn't want to be there and he responses were utterly lifeless and slow. No thank you.

Hey never said you won't be shaped since I can't find that info their site. But what I read on there site it seems to me the shapping is min.
 
I'm cancelling my axxess uncapped account as soon as possible. The speed is absolutely terrible, all online games are unplayable, and I am now throttled after downloading 15gb. pathetic. I have multiple accounts, and the others are fine with regards to gaming etc, so I can only conclude that Axxess is rubbish.

Yet some people have done 700gb on there accounts SO WTF.

Also :10 day Rolling Window - If you're in Top 20% of IS users for the 384kbs, 512kbs and 1024kbs connection speeds, you will be shaped
