Who is doing what to celebrate National Braai Day?

So, who is doing what?

* National Heritage Day is a public holiday in South Africa. Our government set this day aside for all South Africans to celebrate our rich heritage.
* Across race, language, region and religion, we all share one common heritage. It is called many things: Chisa Nyama, Braai and Ukosa to name few. Although the ingredients may differ, the one thing that never changes is that when we have something to celebrate we light fires, and prepare great feasts.
* We encourage all South Africans to at some point during 24 September each year, gather around a fire and Braai4Heritage
* We liken this initiative to annual celebrations cherished by other leading nations of the world; Thanksgiving for Americans, St Patricks Day for the Irish, Bastille Day for the French and Australia Day for Australians.
* At Braai4Heritage we respect and support National Heritage Day and recognise its importance to all South Africans. It is with this in mind that we would like to play our part and unlock its value.
* This is a noble cause, which will not only enhance the meaning of the day, but also contribute to strengthening South Africa as a nation.

We are having a braai starting at noon with a whole bunch of friends and their kiddies. Should be lekker!

gonna braai a lekker steak, tjops, some pork rashers
side dish is gonna be garlic potato with cream and cheese :)

We're going to the Good Food and Wine show at the Dome on Friday. We'll probably go for dinner at The Grill Shop Friday night :) (I love that place). We braai a LOT, so we don't need a special day to do it anyways.

Cape Town weather in September tends to be moderately impossible to predict - which is why I don't bother making plans. It says it will be sunny now, but tomorrow morning the forecast can change :/ Meh ... hate this place.

But, I share Neo's viewpoint ... I braai a lot anyways - so I don't need a special day. Any good day can be Braai Day :D

Agreed, any day can be braaied upon, but when it's official, I think it is everyones' duty as loyal and patriotic Souf Efficans to gooi a vleisie oppie coals, terwyl liefie n pot pap en smoor maak. Yummy!

My favorite thing on the braai is 1 of 2 things:

1 - a fillet steak (that I've lovingly prepared)
2 - some of the spare ribs bought at the BBQ Rib Factory in Honeydew. Those are the BEST ribs
