Games you really enjoy but are yet to finish...

Voicy

Resident Panty Kicker
I have a bad habit of starting a game and unless I play it from start-to-finish, I leave it hanging for a _VERY_ long time before finishing it.

Here's my list of guilty ones:

- Farcry2
- The Witcher
- Just Cause
- Fable2
- Naruto (rise of a ninja)
- GRID
- Sega Rally
- Burnout paradise
- Need for Speed: Most Wanted
- Sacred 2
- Neverwinter nights 2
- Half life 2 ep 1&2

Ones I finally finished after leaving it for quite some time:

- Portal (I stopped it over a year ago and only started it again the other night and finished it)
- Prince of Persia - Sands of time. (I found my old saves and finished it)
- Far Cry (same story)
- Half Life 2 (again, found old saves)
- COD5 (my pc was too slow for it, ok?)

Am I the only person with this nasty habit?

I'm OCD when it comes to finishing games. Unless a title is absolutely awful, I will never admit defeat by not completing it.

After all, gotta get your money's worth.

At the moment though I'm working through Red Alert 3, Far Cry 2 and about to start Resistance 2.

Don't get me wrong - It's not that I give up ... but my sig explains it all.

Having said that, I finished KOTOR2 in 2 sittings ... one of which was 32hrs long. COD4 I also finished in 1 go.

I used to never finish games but that changed in the beginning of last year when I said that I will now finish all games that I start unless it's just too crappy.

One exception to the rule is Baldur's Gate. I still haven't finished it but I'll play a bit further every couple of months.

Half Life 2 + episodes 1+2 (got it never finished it)
tomb raider anniversary
Tomb raider Underworld
Serious sam
Total overdose
GTA 3 vice city
Final Fantasy VIII (yes its older than ten years old I know)

and some others i cant think of now

Oldies i still have but never finished
Ninja shadow of darkness, (ps1)
Croc2 (ps1)
Crash 1,2,3

I never got around to finishing Half Life 2.

Is it just me or was that game just a touch overrated?

Just you :p

I am still mid Fallout3 and Farcry 2... I'll get there eventually. Oh also mid UT3 but I am actively playing that so should be done with it soon.

I'm really irritated with myself for not finishing the witcher before starting WoW.

Man it was such an awesome game - I just can't seem to get myself back into it though...

I did the same PK, I was about half way through before I discovered WoW.

That game (The Witcher) annoyed me though, Im not a fan of the NWN2 engine, it feels all static and yuk. Cant run over a 30cm high bump in the grass, or hop over a waist high wooden fence. Granted it looked excellent, but the overall feel was not for me. It also tore my PC a new one.

Ain't that the truth. After getting another GB of ram, it worked better for me.

But I have to agree ... WoW BIGGEST attraction for me is character freedom.

The ability to lie, sit, walk, jump, run, fly, travel by mounts - anywhere and off anything you like absolutely made it for me. There's nothing I like more than doing 360's off hills and ledges on my mounts or going rock jumping off the floating islands in Nagrand.

It will be very difficult for me to get back into a MMO/RPG where I don't have this freedom. However, WoW wasnt the 1st to implement this. Star Wars: Jedi Knight & Jedi Academy had this worked out very well. Their upper hand was immediate combat. You could kill something with a single blow - or fight for a while. No turn based hits. If the new SW MMO has that kind of fighting in it, it would be the best game ever made...

You sat for 32 hours straight?

I've done that lots, not kidding

Yep...

I was a poor student in CT, had no money/internet/friends and didn't have class that week.

I had coffee/bio breaks, but that was about it.

When I was jobless I used to do this lots, as I usually tried to setup records for being awake when I was younger.

Way back then I remember I would start playing a game or games Friday morning, play all the way through Friday, Saterday and only go to sleep sunday night.

FYI, I finished HL2 EPPY1+HL2 EPPY2+Portal in 1 day.

WIth me it's gothic 3. Dunno why I was bored the other day, installed it, downloaded the patches at work and started playing it again. Got rather pulled in as its actually an awesome game once you get into it a bit, and I could not stop playing it.

Also been addicted to COD4 mapping, spending HOURS per day finishing off my maps etc etc.

Now that I have DSL I Have not touched either, and It doesn't feel like I ever will cause I am having a blast!
