It causes more harm than good. I had my insurance dump R80k into my account instead of directly to my financer when I rolled my car. There was a crapton of paperwork as to who had to send the money out again and bank charges for doing so etc. I even got hellopeter involved in the schlep.
Worst of all is at the end of the day you have to answer to SARS as well as to why you got an unexplained 'bonus' in your account and then sent it out a portion of it again.
What baffles me is why people go off and spend money instantaneously when they get it. It caused quite a stir when Discovery Health would pay med aid amounts into their clients' accounts after procedures instead of to the doctors directly. I've heard of tons of cases where people had procedures done, Disc. sends R30k to their account ... and since they've already had their procedure done, they blow the money claiming ignorance.
