Hi

I seriously need to upgrade my PC, but I think my 17" LCD needs to go first....

So I am looking at buying a 23" monitor, and have come across the following 2:

Samsung P2370H
- 23", 70000:1 Contrast, 2ms
(Samsung art series P2370H , charcoal black , touch buttons design , stylist crystal neck , ultra-slim 30mm depth , 23" Wide + MagicBright3 + MagicTune , Full HD 1920x1080 (WUGA+) ; brightness- 250cd/m2 ; DC contrast ratio- 70000:1 , response time- 2ms , no vesa wall-mount - HDMi + Dvi)

OR

Samsung BX2350
-23" LED, 5000000:1 Contrast, 2ms
(Samsung BX2350 , 23" Led display , ToC charcoal grey , stylish curved base+neck design , with Magic Eco+ Magic Angle+ Magic Return+ MagicBright3 + MagicTune , Full HD 1920x1080 (WUGA+) ; brightness- 250cd/m2 ; DC contrast ratio- 5000000:1 , response time- 2ms , no vesa-wall mount - d-sub+Dvi+HDMi)

I can get them for about the same price, both sub R2k... Which one would you take, and why?

Next upgrade: HD6000 series card....

Thanks!

Samsung BX2350 - I recently upgraded from standard LCD to LED but 24" screen. The Contrast Ratio gives Movies and Gaming a bit more depth IMHO - LED colour seems richer and nicer.... plus the LED screens use less power and are thinner, using up less desk space. WIN WIN if you ask me

Samsung BX2350

I have the XL2370, best screen I have ever had just a word of warning I don't know if I was the only one dumb enough to do this, but use only a bit of water and cloth to clean. No screen cleaners or anything you will definitely regret it, I though I was cool enough not to read the manual of a screen never make that mistake again :)

So what happened to your screen?

Makes this funny white lines on the edges. looks like it damages the led if it set ills somewhere.

mmm, this is concerning... do you think you damaged your screen, or is this more like a sticky streak left behind by the screen cleaner?

I think I am sold on getting the BX2350, now only to find the cheapest place to buy it.. any of you have *connections*???

As far as I am aware, the BX2350 is a 5ms screen.

It is 2ms, I've bought the same monitor a week ago from prophecy shop but the 24 inch. The only "negative" is that the buttons are positioned where you would normally place your hands to adjust the screen, as the buttons are not physical buttons but touch sensitive sensors you will often find yourself accidentally pushing the off button or menu button. Other than that the screen is amazing, had some mates over the weekend and they loved it, LED is the future. I love mine coz I can quickly switch from my pc to xbox with a touch of a button, the two HDMI inputs are very handy for connecting a console or blu-ray player.

You will most likely find the best price online.

Thanks! I did have a look online, I can get it for quite cheap from a supplier here in Cape Town. The difference between the 23 and 24" monitors are R100 ex. VAT, I'll be getting the 24" as well then :)

Its well worth the extra 100 odd bucks.

nope, I was confused, there's a R400 odd price difference, I will be sticking to the 23" then... it's perfect for gaming...

Ah, Im an idiot, it is 2ms. The plain B2xxx series are the 5ms ones!

But I just noticed something, the old LCD panels usually have 300cd/m2 brightness but these BX series have 250cd/m2 ? I thought that the LED panels were generally brighter?

Not sure from a specs point of view, but I can say that the LED is way brighter than my old LCD, took a couple of weeks to get used to it.

So did you get the monitor Tblaar?

Nah, I reconsidered...

I need to upgrade my PC, so no use I get the 23" and then upgrade the rest of the internals later... I'll sit with a very pretty screen on which I can play no games...

So I decided to first get more RAM and a better GPU, then I can at least continue gaming on my 17" LCD, then I'll buy the 23" later...

Seems more logical. Its always a tough decision what to upgrade on a pc, too many damn choices :)

well here's my problem, I posted this in a thread before...

I have a P4 - 3.2ghz, with 1GB RAM and a 6600...

To upgrade, it would make most sense I suppose, to get more ram and a GPU first... then get a new CPU / MB / RAM.. Then, I also need a bigger PSU, I only have a 450Watt... And then I also wanted a new monitor, the 23"....

So really, I have to upgrade EVERYTHING!!!! sucks....

Just get a new machine. dont waste your time upgrading. You would probably have to upgrade your mobo too. If you get a new mobo you will probably get one with DDR3 and have to upgrade the ram. So a new rig is probably the best thing.
