/Puts Shawshank Redemption on "to be watched" list.

At the current moment i am looking for Sci-fi, most stuff like Ghost in the Shell, Neuromancer and that kinda stuff. I also want to get 1984 and am busy procuring Brave New World.

My problem is I dont know many/any novels/movies/anime/series that are similar to my intended final product. Which is why its going slow, I decided i am doing this one right. I have about 3 ebooks i need to scan through and propably somewhere between 50 - 100 wikipedia entries not to mention all the external sources, blogs and other research.

Schinders list i can agree with, but your a heathen for not watching Shawshank, its the same as The Green Mile, its a must see movie.

I saw the the Green Mile.

See these movies, however good, dont help me. I have this thing about only watching what I can draw inspiration from. Like i read all the Sherlock Holmes stories to see how to structure a good mystery. I watched all Ghost in the Shell to build an idea of a technologically advance society and the problems they would face. Caprica has some intresting VR concepts in it that helped me develope an idea for my own virtual world (in the book) I find it icredibly hard to "broaden" my horizons while working on my own fiction.

Like when i wrote my first novel i listened to alot of Manowar, Fantasy metal, I also watched mostly Fantasy Movies and played alot of Fantasy based games. Now I am listing to alot of Techno, what I call fast metal, Metal and even some Linken Park:wtf:, I focus on Sci-Fi themed movies/books/games if i can find them.

if i was writing a WWII piece i would watch Schinders.

Explain that to the noob plz.

Red is the lead characters best friend while in jail, the dude that organizes the smuggling in of commodities and so forth and is also the narrator of the movie and book. Played by Morgan Freeman in the movie, but an Irishman in the book.

Ok now how do you come to associate me with this character.

Not sure actually. Perhaps if there were ever a TK movie you'd probably narrate it and smuggle stuff in? Or perhaps Red because of your wife. You could even be the warden, but I doubt you'd screw us like that. :p

/makes Syco the troubled young guy Tommy that comes in halfway in the movie.
