LOL dude I have to share this story with you because whenever I have a bad day, I think of it and I immediately start canning myself.

So this one day, my wife, myself and a good friend of mine are discussing the whole masonry thing. Now, one of my friend's buddies was also there and little did I know that he is very much into this whole free masonry thing. So he went on to tell us some stuff on "how they work" and a whole bunch of "secrets" which, to us, sounded less like secrets and more common knowledge than anything else. Why would it be called "secrets" if he knew about them?

Anyways, so we're chatting and he said that one day he received an e-mail from an anonymous source saying "We know what you're doing" - and that's when he supposedly never did anymore research on the subject ever again.

LOL - I dunno - I just ripped my tinfoil hat I was laughing so much.

Well you remeber the water buffalo lodge from the flintstones? Well thats what happens at 75% of free mason lodges nowadays. Sure there covering something up, but it's not nearly as sinister as you'd think.

I think the only secrets they're hiding is from their wifes when they get asked "where the hell have you been?"

WE have a freemasons chapter down the road from me.
 
Personally I think that all these "popular" conspiracy theories are a load of misinformation. The real deal is the people who make up this stuff. What better way to hide yourself? Make the other guy more popular. Sleight of hand isn't that thing in COD which make you reload faster, it's actually when your right hand is drawing away peoples' attention while you are pickpocketing with your left hand!

And I think the US are past masters of this. They are the biggest secret hiders of the lot in my opinion. Why they hide so much is anybodies guess.
 
As far as respectable Free Masonry go, the secrets and rituals are just tradition, nothing more, nothing less. It was founded as a way medievil masons to swap stories and learn new techniques from eachother and so forths, and today it's about people who share common intrests, mainly philosophical, to do the same.

You hit the nail on the head. If i was plotting world domination I would be makign sure everybody thought someone else was actually plotting it. The Freemasons, Prior of Zion, Illuminati, MJ12 and Knights Templar are all just scape goats. The Freemasons are a society like the Rotary Club & the Lions. Only reason they are so popular with conspiracy theorist is coz they like to keep some of their rituals secret. And we all know how people react when they dont know/understand something. Outlandish tales are thought up and somewhere in a darkened room infront of a pc monitor some, tinfoil hat wearing, weirdo is confusing myth & legend with fact and proof.

Main reason I am not featuring any of these usual suspects in the novel. Its been done to death, Dan Brown is fueling his private 747 with the proceeds.

I am writing a near future sci-fi... thing... haven't nailed the genre yet. Post Cyber Punk Would be my closest assesment. Before I wrote a Novel entitled A Pilgrim's Crusade which was published by a dodgy America publishing company, as a result there are many grammar errors and the like. But it was published free which is hard for aspiring Authors, maybe oneday I will re-write it and republish it properly.
