LOL! When i was in Grade 8 in Hans Moore in Benoni they did. Down here some of the teachers did have a "lat" but I dont remember a rottang... our Fitting and Turning teacher did throw one pupil with a hammer if that counts.

Heat pack or try Panamore tablets. With food! Or the other one is Inza Tablets, but for back pain I found the panamore worked best. Its like voltaren but cheaper
