A bit of a comeback from Dice? Just a pity it always looks like they are trying to compete with the Call of Duty franchise so badly. They make it so obvious that they are losing players to the COD games. Medal of Honor being rushed and released a month before COD:BO, even though it clearly still needed work. And now they releasing a new Map Pack soon after COD:BO releases to try and maintain their Battlefield fans.

It all just feels extremely desperate. It feels like they have this big thing to prove to everyone and they are overcompensating. They don't need to prove anything to anyone in my opinion, well at least they didn't need to until they messes up royally with MoH and their continued efforts to better COD.

Yeah, in my opinion it's a little too late. Had they released these months ago I'd probably still be playing it... :(

I cant agree with you more , they lost my support with the hit detection then the haxers running wild ......

Thats great free maps, unlike cod which will charge you for them at a later date! i will be playing this and saving 450 rand

I for one would still like to play this game until BF3 comes out, so I'm happy about these maps. I agree about the hackers though, that really, really sucks. But at least here you can get them reported and banned.

Great news on free maps. I don't think DICE is 'overcompensating' for anything. BC2 is great and I like the way they slowly unlock game modes over existing well designed maps. They don't charge an arm and a leg for a continuous spew of DLC content.

They are releasing one reasonably well priced expansion to the game that will provide more maps and a freshened up gameplay experience, and on top of that we're getting four new maps. OK, so two of them are from Bad Company 1, but remember how Activision charged for map remakes in MW2?

MoH seems much more like the wanna-be CoD cash-cow, what with the appearance of the first of what will undoubtedly be a long campaign of pay-for DLC (ala MW2).

I agree with to0kenZA - can't wait for Battlefield 3 and until then we've got some nice free new maps and Vietnam to look forward to. As long as EA doesn't decide to try and fleece us for DLC in BF3 I'll be one happy camper (no pun intended :P).

Hackers can and will be found on any online game. It's how they are dealt with the separates the good from the bad. And for this you can't blame the game normally, as the servers are hosted by ISPs etc and they are responsible for having admins to get rid of hackers. Now BC2 has had some issues locally, but iGame has made a concerted effort to rid us of the idiots, whereas SGS failed miserably.

As for COD:MW2, well seeing as how their were no dedicated servers, the hacking was rampant and out of control at point and that's where I stopped playing. And with their being no admins, there was no control.

With COD:BO I truly hope that whoever is responsible this time is up to the task.

I for one can't wait. Love bad company 2.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the free maps. And the Vietnam add-on will definitely be bought. I love the whole Battlefield game type more than the COD run and gun. BUT, I also still love COD as well. I just prefer the squad and team based play and objectives of battlefield more, so once Black Ops has run it's course, it will be back to BC2 for me.

After all of the negative news about CoD I'm so happy to finally getting some good news about a game I actually like playing. The new maps sound awesome and I'm glad DICE didn't decide to abandon their Battlefield fans so quickly. This will do nicely until Battlefield 3 comes along.

Dude the only negative news are the ones you're harboring for the game. The rest of us are seeing the forest for the trees.

But some of us don't have mweb accounts. I can't play it with my telkom account.

That's hardly "all of the negative news" and certainly not CoD's fault but rather Telkoms one. :/

Well fair enough. I am just getting a little tired of these cod games. Can't they maybe set a cod game in a sci-fi setting.

IMO, I wish they hadn't used the Call of Duty franchise name for anything other than a WWII themed game. Somehow I feel that the name 'Call of Duty' had more meaning when attached to those epic first outings in the series and the WWII theatre.

I understand why they did it, obviously - can't argue with the strength of the brand name. When I think of Call of Duty, it's those epic WWII games I'm thinking of. There's probably a generation of gamer's whom haven't even experienced the greatness of those titles ;_;

new maps? like hell yeah! sign me up.

guess the rest of you are suffering from a CoD hangover, that's why it feels like DICE is "trying too hard"

just my personal oppinion

That's a fair response. I also think DICE is being great. Can't wait for the new maps! Does anyone know the ETA?
