Trying to help: People who want to play Black Ops - without MWeb Accounts

Hey. Did you guys hear that Black Ops is out today? WOW! I think i might get it. I hear that it is good. I am gonna play the kak out of it. 3G rocks.

Well... I just saw SA servers for like 18 seconds before they disappeared, BUT on my WA account, the pings were showing 60 and below! More than playable! Maybe it was a fluke or a glitch, but here is to hoping.

That being said, neo, why are you being such a douche? You asked people for their opinions and they have given you exactly that. But because it is not to your liking, now that are all idiots? If I didn;t know better I'd swear you are just trolling to A: Let everyone know how much you dislike Mweb (again) and B: trying start a fight again.

@omega, I'm melting the butter so long!

IF you're in Cape Town, then you should be getting excellent pings with MWEB servers as they are peered at CINX. It's the Joburg people who are with WebAfrica that have to suffer.

EDIT: @neo, you're making a mountain out of a molehill with the sole intention of trolling. That is all.

Unfortunately nothing.

Just a question, why pay R299 p/m for 25GB when you can go Mweb and get uncapped for R219?

Depens on what line you are I would rather have 25GB with a 10meg speed than and Mweb uncapped on 384kbps line.

Yeah what he said. Why else would tinman post this threat about mweb SP peering list for gamers.

As far as I know, the above two fixes are the only options currently available to local Black Ops players. Some guys have suggested that you can buy a prepaid AfriHost account - but I'm not sure how that would work. It does seem awkward to change your ADSL settings each time you want to play a single game - but at least it should technically work.

Just run the router in bridge mode and setup two ppoe dialup accounts. Should work without any problems.

:wtf:

How do you get 10meg line speeds? Kimberley doesn't have it yet afaik...

Look, you might be right to some degree (though I don't see the point of getting anything less than 4meg tbh) but that's only valid for 384k speeds. As soon as you go 512k, it becomes a lot less palatable imnsho.

Yeah mate we got 10meg lines here :D as for how we got it I have no idea. I should have probably used 4meg lines as the example but then again since WA accounts are all up to 10meg and if you have it then it looks way more attractive than uncapped at a very slow speed. But there are options like axxess uncapped when you get full speed after hours and what not. But you must also check what your budged can handle.

Well what part of Kimberley you in? My exchange is usually first with the new goodies and the Telkom person I talked to a while back said we wouldn't be getting until January earliest. Oh, and just for clarification... I'd still take MWEB 10meg over 25gig WebAfrica anyday. Really, I have 4meg uncapped now and would never go back to a capped account.

Me est so jealous... :(

Technicaly I have a 10 meg line. My exchange is capable and its just a call away from telkom enabling my line. Unfortuantly my snr on the line is so bad that anything above 4mbps cause constant disconnections so I have to stick with 4mbps.:(

With the price for an uncapped 10meg its a bit unbelievable that you would pay that kind of money.
In the Monument Heights area.

Just by the way. I was playing Black Ops last night on Vodacom 3G and i had a ping of about 60 or 70. That is not too bad.

Well, I was playing usuing my WebAfrica account and I'm in Pretoria and it was playable. Played on my Afrihost account and the lag issues were the same, so it looks promising for WA users. I suspect though that I was only able to see and play on Jhb based Mweb servers.

If I needed a 10meg line, I would. However, I have no problems with my 4meg wrt to downloading or gaming (and oft times both at the same time) so I wouldn't upgrade just yet anyway. Monument Heights used to be a crap place for adsl, must have jacked up their service levels...

EDIT: With 5 people using the line, I do over 100 gigs a month without taking usenet/rapidshare into account.
