Best Gaming Hardware Specs

Oh, Neo forgot to let you know. I went with a 46inch Sony Bravia 100hz. Just have to wait a few days for it. I will let you know when i get it. Thanks for the advice.

Sometimes purchasing second hand kit is most affordable for those who either cannot afford to spend much, or simply see decent specials/deals.

One must also remember that it comes down to the person buying, if you are buying second hand kit, it would be fairly obvious to check out what kinds of warranty's etc.. are provided. Additionally, that persons reputations may be of notice on the online community that is Carbonite. It's also worth paying attention to any additional details, pictures, the retailer etc.. What about RMA? as Blaze correctly pointed out.

Never under-estimate the power of opportunity cost.

I hear exactly what you're saying but sometimes if you're willing to buy an entire PC's worth of components second hand it means that you're sort of desperate? I'm not new to the Carbonite.co.za forums as I've sold quite a few things on there. Funnily enough, the stuff that I've sold were not in warranty at all. First reason being the 1st lot was full import stuff that was simply not available locally, and the 2nd lot was very old but someone still obviously had a need for it.

I'd buy a second hand component only if I knew I couldn't get it brand new anymore. At one stage I contemplated getting a 3rd GTX280 and since they're not on the market anymore, getting one second hand is the obvious choice.

I ALSO understand that buying anything 2nd hand is a very opinionated issue. Some people would buy a Ferrari from "Pete's reliable Auto" where as another person wouldn't DARE buy anything from a place like that. I'm the same, I am not against buying a car 2nd hand, but I'd buy it at the relevant dealer. i.e An Audi at an Audi Dealership or a BMW at a BMW Dealership. Even then you run the risk of ending up with something that's not 100% right, but because of where you've bought it, you have some way of sorting it out properly.

There is something that you do NOT get with a 2nd hand purchase, and it's called "Peace of mind". To some people, that's more important than saving R20.

YEAH! you got a lekker screen there dude. You're going to enjoy it lots!!! :D

Sorry Neo. I got that peace of mind thing in before you but its all good. haha. I agree with you though new is better than old. I would rather save a bit more and get something i know that is going to work and if it does not then i just take it back.

Like I said man, if it's something you cannot get anymore for some reason anymore, OR if it's something that you're 100% okay with running a risk on, then I'd buy it 2nd hand from the Carbonite forums - no problem. But to buy literally ALL of your components 2nd hand? I don't know. It doesn't seem right to me.

Firstly, thats the point of asking for advice here, to get the best specs for your cash, after you have the specs you look at trusted online stores for the best pricing, most people could build nag machines for cheaper, that dream machine crap is probably a rip off as well, please do not spam here as it makes you look noobish and unprofessional, I don't care what they are, they can't be to great if they have to resort to spam for customers.
