Don't suppose I'll need both, but you can let me know what your separate sale price will be then :)

I am happy with my GTX275 :) No Thanks, I wont need anyone of these anytime soon. None of the games are even taking advantage of the technology on these cards anyway.

No way i'm selling my Gtx480 for one of these.Very happy with mine and definately no need for anything else at this stage.

Precisely, I think people go over board and don't actually weigh up what's required and what's overkill.

I think my system is just fine for now. I am maybe only going to change my PSU and Mobo. Dont think there is anything else that i need. Or am i missing something?

Ok, lets take a look at the recommended system requirements for a game like COD Black Ops.

OS: Windows® Vista / XP / 7
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom™ X3 8750 or better
Memory: 2GB
Graphics: Shader 3.0 or better 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600GT / ATI Radeon® X1950Pro or better

So we see that this game, which isn't even out yet, has fairly low requirements. So yeah, GTX460x2 and an i7, more than required.

Anything that is worth doing, is worth over-doing. I know.

Ok, that's your opinion. But my opinion, not everything is worth over-doing, there is quite a margin between over-doing and doing something that is sufficient.

Look, if you have more money than you know what to do with, fair enough. But there is always a house mortage to pay, or treat the wife more or some such. I recently spent quite a few bucks and that will have to do for at least 2 yrs.

I just want it ready for Crysis 2. If it was nything like the last one i am gonna have to scrap my machine and wait 2 years before i can run it at full graphics.

Hey Frank,Crysis 2 will apparently scale very well and on our hardware we should have zero problems!!

cheers

Well, I'm still sitting with two GTX280s. They're limited to DX10 and even when they do play DX10 games it seems to make them "struggle" a bit. So I sat on the bench and let the GTX480 pass, now however, my opportunity is here to get a GTX580 - so I've waited for this for quite a while and have no reservations in buying one. It's got nothing to do with "more money than what you know what to do with" - it's got to a lot to do with waiting for the right purchase to come along.

Ag geesh. So this thing is going to use some "gimmicky" never-before-used cooling solution from NVIDIA? Something tells me I should hold out on buying one of these for a while because I can already see the headlines: "Nvidia users riot in the streets due to failing "new" cooling solution from Nvidia"

based on what i read it's using vapor chamber cooling, much like the fancy 5850 and 5870 vapor-x jobs from sapphire.

not gimmicky at all, actually a damn good solution. much better than their current Mahoosively crap fan sink combo

I hope so dude...I really hope so. I'm eyeing this card so I'm holding thumbs that it works as advertised :)
