Sexuality in Gaming

Lol, seems like you guys missed the point. and sure parents are largely to blame andas society gets busier and we dont have time to bring up our children which is already happening shouldnt we limit that kinda content like in the past. sure I get the whole adult games and stuff i am talking about majority of gaming titles.

People who watch jackass do do that by the way. or does that not influence people in the slightest way to try somekinda of prank from jackass which they would never have done if they hadnt seen it?

I am focusing on sexual stuff not weapons. even for adults why have the sexual stuff in the game, get a real life and do it with your wife why live in a fantasy world?

I am just trying to be more protective than desensitise a society making it more acceptable to do things that 50yrs ago you would get locked up for. Is freedom of speech a good thing, not if it hurts people right? isnt becoming more sexual damaging to society? as many statistics in europe which was much less conservative than SA have teenagers with babies. I mean if you see some one getting it one, or sexually suggestive scenes u too would want some of that action. see girls is miniskirts not turn a guy on making him want some? making it unhealthy

Back when I was playing the Sims, it was my single-minded goal to turn my female lead character into a lesbian and get her to woohoo with the sassy neighbour next door. Does that count? :)

Sexuality in games don't really bother me as long as it advances or supports the story. I don't really see the point if its purely gratuitous.

Thats crap. Everybody blames the "economy" for anything and everything finacial these days. Maybe mommy and daddy won't both have to work 2 jobs each if they sell and stop paying loans on 3 of thier 4 cars and stop building an extra room each year on the back of house and sell the 70 inch HDTV they use as a babysitter.

If that's your views on gaming, why the hell are you even on a gaming forum to begin with? The whole point of gaming is about immersing yourself into a fantasy world and forgetting about real life and the troubles it brings. Exactly the same reason people cut their wrists and jump off buildings.

So in the end, take your closed minded fascism and shove it where it'll bleed most.

Wow. Spoken like someone who lives with mom and has never had a job. Apparently you have absolutely no idea how expensive the cost of living is these days. And by "cost of living", I mean affording basic food and a shitty flat.

I don't particularly LIKE homosexuality. That said, I'd never tell a homosexual that he's disgusting or anything like that, but I also wouldn't hang around one, solely out of personal preference.

As far as I see it, homosexuality is a choice and I'm willing to put up with it but I feel it's far too acceptable. Ideally I don't think men would be gay, nor would women be lesbian. I also base this off of the fact that it is a highly promiscuous culture -- not even to generalize, the nice, monogamous, faithful marriage which is expected (yet doesn't always happen) in heterosexual marriages is not the goal of homosexual relationships.

That said, I wouldn't want to play a gay character. Partially for the fact that I don't want to make being gay acceptable or commendable, and secondly because I disagree with the culture.
 
My take on this is quite simple. I have no objection to any sexual content whatsoever as long as the game carries the appropriate rating. Personally I find it rather funny how sexual content its much more of a no no while rampand violence is acceptable.

I had no problems playing a gay character in one of my dragon age origins playthroughs or a semi lesbian in mass effect.

I'm reluctant to derail this discussion, but the "homosexuality is a choice" argument has always bothered me immensely. When did you decide to be heterosexual?

How real does living off nothing but noodles for a month sound because my father lost his job? No electricity, struggling for school fees or even the petrol to get me to school? Now how real does a vow to not let that happen again sound? How real does careful planning and investment sound to make the most out of an already lucrative career? Carefully reading contracts and very, VERY nearly getting screwed over on multiple occasion?

Yes, and promiscuity has been exactly why gay people have been fighting for the legal right to marriage...

The only reason for this "promiscuous" stereotype is because in the past gay people struggled to find compatible partners within the limited number of available suitors.

Again, come back and say this again when you're living in the real world, Raven Gold. Or better yet, ask your dad about it. The cost of living in SA is verging on extortionate - even with careful planning and investments, the average middle class family isn't exactly rolling in cash. While I agree that the quality of parenting isn't what it might have been twenty or even ten years ago, it's extraordinarily presumptuous to claim that economic difficulties are a flimsy smokescreen for extravagant spending.

Making a vow to avoid that is one thing, carrying through on it is something else altogether. Of course, if you're already living on your own, paying bills and insurance premiums and car and home loans, putting kids through school, and still banking a bunch of spare cash on the side, by all mean, accept my apology. But you're not, are you? I'm guessing you don't even have a job, much less a "lucrative career".

And I'm not picking on you, I just think you're young and very limited in your appreciation for the hard realities of adult life.

I don't agree entirely. I do think that, generally speaking, the gay community is rather promiscuous - but so is the straight community. It's just not widely acknowledged. Lots of people, regardless of their sexual orientation, are promiscuous.

I guess going into the homosexuality is a choice and promiscuity derails it completely. Bottom line is, I have been very open to homosexuals -- I've met them, spoken to them, not my crowd. Also under the heading of "not my crowd" is goths, emos and white people, so who am I to say? I still wouldn't wanna play them in a video game.

Also, I think it's rather ridiculous to say "not my crowd" on the basis of something as banal as sexual preference. I mean, I choose to keep company with people I get along with. Since I'm not planning on fucking any of my friends, their sexual preferences are kind of irrelevant.

Prejudice really is the most bizarre thing.
 
My opinion on gays and straight people is that they don't choose it(unless they like both meat:p)

I didn't really want to get into it, but I don't think I ever chose to be heterosexual -- I think I chose not to be gay when I was about 5 though, when I found out what it was.

What I mean by not my crowd is I think it's immoral. I don't hang out with drug addicts, I don't hang out with heterosexuals, and that's a very personalized, self-decided idea, not something I can necessarily back with provable logic, solely my opinion. I don't like it, but I accept and tolerate it.
