You don't think that's a bit of a cop-out? I mean, by your own reasoning then, gay people aren't choosing to be gay, they're possibly choosing not to be straight instead. And further than that, why would anybody choose and perpetuate a lifetime of persecution and discrimination? If a person could simply choose their sexuality, why aren't more gay people choosing to be straight?

What I mean by not my crowd is I think it's immoral. I don't hang out with drug addicts, I don't hang out with heterosexuals, and that's a very personalized, self-decided idea, not something I can necessarily back with provable logic, solely my opinion. I don't like it, but I accept and tolerate it.

How can you hold such a strong opinion when it isn't backed up by rational, logical consideration, and instead on some nebulous aspect of morality? You're choosing to discriminate against an entire demographic based on something as inconsequential - and none of your business, really - as sexual preference. I assume from one of your previous posts that you're black - you do realise, of course, that black people are subject to similar discrimination in many parts of the world? Is that okay on the basis of "self-decided ideas" that aren't backed by "provable logic" too?

Provable logic? No. I do think there's a natural evolutionary line of a species and I don't see anything positive about being homosexual. I do believe that it's a little more than "I won't be gay anymore" but I also believe it is a matter of decision. Really, I could write pages about my views on this, but I don't get into it with anyone because I don't try and push my beliefs off on other people, especially when it relates to something like homosexuality.

I'm willing to accept it, I'm willing to be quiet about it, I just don't really agree with it and someone being gay or lesbian is reason enough for me not to want to be friends with them. What I hate is that society makes it unpopular to dislike it and it's completely acceptable and dandy, that's the only thing I'd be vocal about regarding the whole LGBT thing.

I really, really do not want to take it further than this though. Especially on a gaming forum.
 
My opinion is NO. Sexuality should not be talked about in games - where the games have no need for it. Honestly, do you tell people you're straight/gay/whatever when you first meet them? It's pointless.

As far as playing a gay character... well it really doesn't matter so long as it doesn't take anything away from the character and adds to the story. I personally don't think about the sexual orientation of my characters at all. I might assume them to be straight, but that's might only be because I'm straight. If Solid Snake is gay... well that really doesn't affect me in anyway. I still love the games and just because he's gay, it doesn't change the fact that he's badass mofo.
 
wow nice piece of work you are directly attacking someones opinion and then insulting them. is this what this forum is all about insulting someones view without debating it and telling them to shove it where it bleeds most? Is this kinda stuff tolerated here? Sad. defiantly wont wanna be part of this gaming forum if you get treated like this for voiceing your opinion. Nice work bro. You keep insulting people hope it makes you proud to be who you are.
 
this forum is seriously aint opinion unless you can prove your opinion with facts your not encourage to voice it if people dont agree with you. Azimuth u dig into peoples opinions in such an agressive way, relax, its just a discussion of peoples opinions wow. He is totally entitled to his opinion without having to be insulted about it.

Azimuth was just asking questions. Which sucks 'cause she's pretty good at them. But seriously this whole thread is pretty relaxed :P
