Look, I love gaming and have been going at it since Mario first grabbed his first ever coin and Mappy was the master of finding lost appliances.
But something I noticed is that this "gotta have 'em all" attitude changes when you stop buying into hype, and start playing games again for the fun of it. Patience also helps. Well, that's my opinion.
About two years ago I had a massive games collection. 60+ xbox360 titles. Every AA or AAA (no BEE...lol) title that got released I had to have soonest...So buying on release day, or within the following week was a must. Or so I thought. Needless to say my finances took a massive knock and I just played the games for the sake of being able to say I have before rushing to pop the latest and greatest into the console.
But I sold the 360, along with all the games to change to PS3.
But buying every game on release day is sadly stupid.
I now own a ps3, and although my collection is around 20 strong, my buying habits are much more conservative now and I will spend a lot more time per title. (I've also replayed a number of them out of pure enjoyment...i think on Bioshock 1 I am on my fourth pass)
If any retailer thinks I will fork out in excess of R400 for a game they are sadly mistaken. It's just not worth it. Come to think of it the last 5 titles I bought were all under R250.

And all 2010 releases, that took R600-R700 at the till when released...
In 2010 I only bought two games at release time: Bioshock 2 and God of War 3.
Yet, amongst the memorable 2010 titles I added Darksiders, ModNation, BFBC2, POP: Forgotten Sands, Skate 3, Dante's Inferno & Heavy Rain by waiting a while and picking them up for a song when prices came down, or they start showing up secondhand.
For example, I picked up Heavy Rain for 120 Bucks...I could've paid R699 when it got released...but waited.
So the moral of the story: wait a while, save some cash in the process and you'll still be able to play all of the amazing titles we get blessed with....in due time....
