PC/Console Piracy vs Series/Movie Piracy

Bwahahaha.

That's like saying I paid for my car, I paid for the petrol and I've paid for the parking, so why can't I go watch my movie in the cinema for free?

Idiotic argument. Try again.

Ur waisting ur breath dude. Had this argument a 100 times and will probably a 100 times more.

Did you pay for the projector? Did you pay for use of the seats?

My ultimate point is, that in all things, games, movies, series, books, cars, airplanes, toasters, bread, if direct physical effort or property is not involved, payment is not deserved. Forget the established laws conserning this, they have no right to exist.

Case and point.

After having been on these forums for a while and having read the MANY opinions of various posters, I can not help but wonder why anyone here who merely hints at copying/pirating a game is instantly deemed the anti-christ, but talking about pirated tv series & movies is fine?

Is that not double standards? "Burn the PS3 hacker at the stake and afterwards I'll go watch the latest House or Smallville or Megamind BRrip on my PC."

Now I'm not saying everyone here watches pirated shows, but lets be honest, I reckon at least 80-90% of the MyG members either have or do so regularly.

So I ask again, why lay into console/PC hackers so, but TV/movie piraters are okay?

simply because games are always available in some legit form VS the constant battle to see what i want to see when i want to see it.

for example, thanks to our great christian brothers Reaper was stopped mid season and at that time only option was downloading it.

scott vs the wold i download because it didn't show in decent cinemas close to me and i'm not driving out to rosebank to watch it. not my exact fault if numetro has kak facilities.

with the dawn of a proper job and steam... not really excuse not to go perma legit with games. what would fix movies and series ? well the obvious answer is decent cinemas that are kept in a decent state and not seen as gravy producers. as to the shows, well i think it's time that we get onDemand here in RSA in decent quality and not that castrated dst on demand. seriously i tossed away my 14" for a reason...

This statement made my brain hurt..... direct physical effort or porperty........ doesn't include everything you've mentioned?

Anyways, I pirate movies, series and anime. Have over 4TBs now. But when it comes to games (PC, PS3 or Xbox, I have all three) and music, I buy original. There's not a single pirated game installed on my PC and I haven't cracked/hacked/jailbreaked/chipped my consoles.

Why don't I pirate games and music........ just don't want to.

Very valid argument.

Imagine a system where u went online and bought an episode of ur favorite tv show or movie then streamed it to u or even downloaded it so that u own it, permanently. Instead of paying for a season of Big Bang Theory when/if it became available at ur local musica you would pay a set fee depending on the episode length, not an extravagant sum, this fee would include an administration fee for the service u used (servers where data is stored and all that) and the rest would go directly to the broadcasting authority.

Imagine it like itunes. U buy a tune for less that a $. Its yours. Yes there is always the frustrating DRM and limited redownloads but the theory is sound.

Oooh yay... Another thread about piracy where both sides give such convincing arguments encompassing rationality, ethics and hundreds of other variables...

Can't we just link a previous thread and get this over with?

With regards to Series, how can you call it Piracy when companies like FOX, NBC and MANY other's allow you to watch the Full episodes right on their websites?

DSTV is a waste of money in my personal opinion, since why should I have to conform to the TV's schedule? I watch what series I want to watch, when i want to watch it. My girlfriend actually does stream from such sites to catch up and get current with certain shows.

I believe the arguments regarding piracy of TV Series is a waste of time...
I know of a Company that actually downloads the latest episodes of most shows and makes them available to all staff right on their corporate network to copy and take home!
