I disagree. A "gamer" wouldn't cheat--it would ruin the very essence and even the competition of the game.

There's something noble and proud in being a gamer, I think.

Well that's your opinion, but I know exactly what you're implying.

Although, people that are in there with you are all gamers, but some of them are fking rotten bastards that cheat, either knowingly, or just ignorantly spoiling it for everyone else.

Well, I guess I just don't consider people like that to be gamers so much as "people who happen to play games." I guess that's my own cognitive bias kicking in: I like to disassociate myself from people who "ruin" games (specifically, by cheating, especially so in competitive gaming).

I don't really mind people cheating in a game after they've finished it and messing around and getting whatever ounce of fun they can out of it by doing so, but there's a fine line between that and purposely trying to get an unfair advantage over someone else or spoiling a game by taking the challenge out of it.

People who need to cheat to be any good at or even so much as play a game, should find themselves another hobby.

I see what you mean.

What I meant by cheating was more implied in the online competitive gaming sense. That's where it becomes totally unacceptable.

*nod* And I agree. It shouldn't be (and isn't) permitted but people are more interested in spending their time and effort finding a work-around than actually just practising to become better. There's something about that kind of mindset that just irks me.

It's very very bad mindset, in my opinion!

Not only does it imply that you think you must get everything without working for it, but also, this might sound a bit ludicrous, it also takes the journey out of the whole experience, thus annulling the very purpose of life. Everything out there takes practice and hard work and the rewards of honorable, honest achievements are what makes it awesome to be alive. That's what I think.

I do agree--what do you get out of the experience if you haven't worked for it? It is meaningless and without bond to you. It's instant gratification and absolutely nothing more :)

Now stop baiting my PD side, I was just agreeing with you, damnit :p
