Worst Idea Ever!

Haha: "Laying in the path of an oncoming freight train isn't normal, but on meth it is!"

Also; I have trouble believing this is real. Been browsing crap on the Internet for so long, that's the first question I ask.

If it is real, that dumbass needs to be tracked down and arrested. He endangered more than just his own life.

It not like the train would feel it....

Oh my sack!

He might not have been killed, but he probably lost some of his hearing! Can you imagine how loud that must have been?

Environmental Noise
Weakest sound heard 0dB
Whisper Quiet Library 30dB
Normal conversation (3-5') 60-70dB
Telephone dial tone 80dB
City Traffic (inside car) 85dB
Train whistle at 500', Truck Traffic 90dB
Subway train at 200' 95dB

I take it that 200' means 200m? I'm not sure, they don't give a metric, but if that's the case this oke is even more idiotic than we though before. Exposure longer than 1 minute to a noise level of 110 dB can cause permanent hearing loss. I think a train going above you should be way, way louder than 95dB. Holy crap.

Well the chap seemed to having given this stunt some thought so i suppose it only natural to think he would have some sort of noise cancelling ear plugs or something... then again he did let a train drive over him so intelligence shouldn't be assumed.

Pretty much what you said.

I don't think there is any form of earplug on earth that could protect his ears 100% from that kind of noise. That must have been insanely loud.

And no, I guarantee there is zero intelligence there. What if the train had some kind of lower grid or something? And what if he had been killed, how on earth would the driver feel? Accident or not, he would probably have some issues as a result.

It not like the train would feel it....

Let's assume he gets hit, trapped under the train, dragged along for a bit. He places burden on society in general.

Goods and passengers are delayed. Further scheduled train trips have to be cancelled while they clean up the mess, impacting the economy and people who rely on the train services to earn their living. Emergency services personnel will have to be called out to retrieve his body and render aid if he is still alive. He is sent to a public hospital. All that places financial burden on the taxpayer. He may die and cause grief and trauma for those close to him, and perhaps even for those on the train. Hypothetical situations abound about the knock-on effects this may have for those involved. e.g. The train driver feels grief although he could have done nothing to stop it. Maybe he quits his job and can't support his family.

tl;dr - It boils down to the philosophy of Social Contract Theory. People that perform actions that may impact society in general are buffoons and should be punished.

I'm pretty sure the train driver wouldn't even notice. Train drivers are used to fatalities. Each one of them have seen a few in their lifetime. It's a good way of thinning the herd.

I think you guys are forgetting that the train is actually moving forward at one hell of a speed. Noone will know or even care if an idiot like this dies under a moving train.

I subscribe to that theory. http://mygaming.co.za/forum/entry.php/13-A-Return-to-Darwinism

However in the immortal words of Zorg:
Zorg: Life, which you so nobly serve, comes from destruction, disorder and chaos. Now take this empty glass. Here it is: peaceful, serene, boring. But if it is destroyed
[Pushes the glass off the table. It shatter on the floor, and several small machines come out to clean it up]
Zorg: Look at all these little things! So busy now! Notice how each one is useful. A lovely ballet ensues, so full of form and color. Now, think about all those people that created them. Technicians, engineers, hundreds of people, who will be able to feed their children tonight, so those children can grow up big and strong and have little teeny children of their own, and so on and so forth. Thus, adding to the great chain of life. You see, father, by causing a little destruction, I am in fact encouraging life. In reality, you and I are in the same business.

:p

It's same as normal vehicle accidents. Even if no one is injured, the accident alone costs the taxpayers millions every year. I say where cause can be proven as driver negligence, saddle him/her with the damn bill, or at least a portion of it.

Same goes for this nutbag. I couldn't give a toss if he removes himself from society, but when he does it in such a manner as to impact other peoples' lives, including my own, that gets me going. Why should others have to suffer, financially, emotionally or other wise due to his unbelievable stupidity?
