Mygaming Sucks [BUT NOT REALLY]

OK thats not really true - just trying to get attention. :D

But it really bothers me that a lot of the articles are just reprints of NAG and SACM. I mean whats the point of coming here then. And it's not lost on me that all ads so far are for NAG.

I know some of you may disagree with me, NAG is not nearly as good as it used to be, in fact, it does suck. Big time. I have diligently avoided it for the last 3 years, only checking by browsing a friends copy now then. Time after time my fears are confirmed and it remains crappy. And lets not forget, that not so long ago NAG was accused of just reprinting articles ripped from popular websites (i dont know if any of that was true - anybody know?). but if it is true Mygaming could inadvertently reprint someone else's stuff and end up in some hot water. If all Mygaming is gonna do is reprint their stuff then i can't see this site going very far. Which is really sad, because MYadsl/Mybroadband has such as a awesome rep. I, for one, am not happy with this association.

I dont have a problem with pooling resources and creating partnerships, but acting as a straight mirror for those mags; and i mean those mags in particular...

Well, you can do better.

On a positive note, the site has nice easy to navigate look and the competitions are awesome.

Hey Dude

Must read through Tinman's posts. He said they they can't do reviews for all the historical games that got released, and that he uses NAG for that, but all the future reviews etc will be done in-house.

But, you got your attention, so konichiwa and welcome to the party :)

I am going to suggest that we get comps for reviews for games and maybe you as thedude can post a review!
 
It was a brilliant move of MyGaming to start of with NAG reviews. It's a quick way to have professional reviews at the start of a site. As far as I understand the reviews will eventually be done by other people.

And I like Kage's idea to have competitions for reviews. In fact there needn't even be competitions. I'm sure that if any of you write reviews and send it to Tinman then he will read it through and consider to put it up on the site if it is deemed good enough. (Haha do realize that this is an assumption and that I do not know the inner workings of Tinman's brain) :)

This site is still in the baby stage and it has a lot of potential for growth. There will be hiccups in the beginning but wow it is already becoming much more than what most other new sites will do in such a short time.

Thanks for your input. To be honest, I did not realize that there was such a strong anti-NAG/SACM sentiment.

I think that your claim that MyGaming is simply a mirror of SACM/NAG is unfair.

Please go and actually page through the articles that are up. There have been around 90 articles published on this site (Its been live for 8 days now), 8 of which were in NAG or SACM. That is less than 10%.

And I have stated before that we will be taking care of future reviews, I just did not see the value in going back over the past 3 months and reviewing titles like Fallout3, GOW2,Mirrors edge etc.

Thats a relief. If its just for old stuff well cool then. But even then - NAG?!
Surely the must be some one else. or rather just forget those reviews of older games.

@Solitude - i would hardly call NAG's review professional.

@kage - think they should have a comp where they look for a new reviewer. Have whole Game Reviewer IDOLS. Which sound terrible, and yet, is creepily compelling.

Yes, and I was thinking we would publish maybe one or two from NAG/SACM a month, for titles that we missed etc. But it is becoming more and more apparent that this will not go down well.

The thing is, with stuff like the LG 42" TV, there is no way they are going to send it to a small publication like MYGaming. Sometimes we will not have access to high end hardware, and in these cases we will probably still use our SACM/NAG content. At least until w can start getting our hands on it ourselves.

The review competition should be up by the end of the day.

And Im changing this thread title, It gives me chills everytime I glance over it
 
Hey man you can't just go round changing peoples thread titles without consulting them. I am shocked and appalled at this at this callous and blatant censorship.

I demand you change the bracket from round to squared as compensation. If this is not done, absolutely nothing will be occur except for a brief pang of guilt that you'll feel for upsetting a loyal reader of three quarters of an hour.
